What "RULES" Did YOU Want To BREAK?
by minimus insince the organization has so many rules, did you ever just want to break a rule, just to do it?
one rule that i enjoyed breaking was the 15 to 20 minute rule that you were supposed to come to the meeting early.
i was regularly tardy.

I have not heard any news reports from yesterday. I have a friend that works as a reporter for the local news, and I asked him a about stuff like this. This is what he said ...
"The news gets a lot of phone calls from people who want certain causes known. Not surprising, a lot have to do with religion. The media has to be careful though, as they do not want to get involved in something that is more of a one-on-one personal matter. They want to mention things that affect everyone or at least a large percentage. Thus, they do one of two things. One, they ignore it and hope it goes away. Two, they send out a "no name" reporter to interview for experience. When they get back they look it over and figure, we will keep it around for awhile. If later more things develop they have an edge. If not, they just say the story got bumped."
... Now in my conversation with my friend this afternoon, as I called him again on this issue. He said basically, "it is just not big enough!" It is not a issue enough people care about to put on the national news. It might show up in some story line to Dateline, 20/20 or something like that. It will be part of a whole collage of information though, and not one piece.
As a illustration, have you ever lost a loved one that really meant something to you. Didn't you almost want the news to mention them, or some parade of acknowledgement from the world that this person mattered? I know I have. In reality though, that is the world. If it is not big enough, if it does not affect enough people ... it is not news worthy. It's the hard facts of this life.

Perhaps had we been face-to-face it would have come across with the manner in which you meant it. Such is the confusion of the internet at times. I thought you were trying to say I called someone a name.

There are hundreds of marches in NYC and DC each year. If there isn't some violent outburst or major arrest, as was the case with the other protest on the 27th in Washington DC. Then the news sees them as human interest stories and not "headline news" and thus they just come out when they have space. Sometimes weeks or months later. If you do press releases and press the issue, they will sometimes put the story in sooner. Of course, it mind it up somewhere between the comic and that new Ford sale.
Such is the aspect of news ... more blood, sex and tears and you get a higher headline.

Why does it bother you that people would question Bill Bowen, is he your leader? I ask this question, as I have seen so many people following him and even calling themselves bowenites, that I am concerned for you. I am worried you are heading from one leadership of the GB to the next leadership of Bill Bowen. For example, it bothers me that everyone thought it was a good idea to march on the Watchtower headquarters. It bother me, because I can not believe someone did not speak up and think about how it would have made more of a stance marching on Washington DC! It shows once more, leadership based on certain bias. Take for example the GB and their attack on Catholics. I often wondered, why so much on the Catholics? Then as I studied I learned their were a lot of attacks on the GB in the past, supported by the Catholics. Thus, the GB had a personal vendetta to see there down fall, or to be a thorn in their side. In reality, if they really wanted to focus on a religion that was damaging ... they would have needed to attack all of the religions equally. Something that took years to bring about, and to this day, I still see a major attack on Catholics in their religion. So when someone says "I want to help the children", well my first thought is to say, "wonderful!" Then I start looking into it and I find that the leader makes statements about "taking down the religion" and calling people stupid for asking. I think, "how is that about the children." To me, if it was really about the children ... why would they reject the idea of changing laws and changing the legal system? Why would they not research all the states and see what changes need to be made, and teach their people to fit this. In addition, why would they not march on Washington DC ... which is the seat of law in this country. I have said before, insanity is doing the same thing over and over the same way and expecting different results. Is this an example of people not learning from the past mistakes of the organization they used to belong too? I wonder, as I see more anger in these marches then love. I see more anger in peoples defense of this man then love. In this I ask, "if is is about the children ... then shouldn't it be about love." Doesn't love guide us to make positive decisions? Just wondering Dragon PS : I am not upset that you posted these thoughts on the other board, you are still my friend. I predicted this was going to happen last night on the board.
