recently i was watching a documentary on this woman who claimed that she could heal people with the power of her mind.
the documentary went into interviewing people about their experiences, and many of them actually had medical signs of improvement that could be documented and shown.
while watching this, i was seeing it as a example of psychic energy healing someone?

just heard today from my parents that a member of the canadian bethel said that there is a 1% increase in publishers from last year.
they made such a big deal of it but when you consider that this increase is mostly from jdub's that have been raised in it and are now starting to publish it is not such a big deal.
i was also told that they mentioned about the dangers of the internet and also about all the lawsuites that the "apostates" are bringing against the organization.
Since 9/11 a lot of religion saw a increase. Keep in mind though, that as of September 2002, most religions said attendence was dropping again.

i know when it comes to pedophiles we are young girls or teenage girls who have been molested by men.. i know of 2 cases where a teenage boy is being seduced by an older woman in the congregation.. .
i know of one when i was a jw in my congregation.
she was 24 and he was 15 1/2 - 16 when they meet.
Not to sound bad. In society though it, if a man is in his teens and a older woman seduces him "Hello, Mrs. Robinson" he is often proud of it. Feeling very lucky and even bragging about it. After all, he often got more then he ever imagined from a woman that new what she was doing.
Just my thought

Recently I was watching a documentary on this woman who claimed that she could heal people with the power of her mind. The difference is though, I did not see the woman doing it. I felt that it happened like this. These people came to this woman and felt she was a healer. They had read about her, saw her on television and strongly believed in her ability. So when they went before her and she touched them, I do think in many ways they connected to energy and felt a healing. How is that?
I think the power of the mind can do amazing things. Yes, it gives us the power to speak, and the power to think. Why can it not give us the power to make changes in our body. One time I set at a table and bet a man I could make a glass move across the table with the power of my mind. He thought I was full of crap, and took the bet. I set in front of the glass for a second, took a deep breath and said to my wife "move that glass for me!" She did, and thus I won. Why do I say that?
The mind is not so much about the power you emit from it in something invisible and unseen force, as much as the power you have to actually use what you know. My mind created the words, the plan and executed them. Yes, it was less dramatic then some demonstration people wanted to see. Yet it proved a point.
That point being that we can influence others to do something we want them to. We can actually control our environment in a simple way, to have major actions. Basically that is like turning the light switch to a larger power. If the mind can tell another person to move a glass, then can it tell the body to heal itself?
Depends, did you believe the glass would move when I asked my wife to move it? Yes! Why, because you can see it done and it makes sense. That is the key, you can visualize it. You can see it done in your head, and thus the action seems believable. Believing in something has great power for the mind. Thus the very true statement we hear all the time of "the power of prayer", which is very true and along this line of thinking. Because a faith in a higher power, is something engrained from youth and accepted as real.
So what am I getting at here. It is this, the mind can heal and it can direct that healing in others. It does this through a faith in the possibility, and acceptance of the path and outcome. Some will give contradiction to this, yet in doing so they are making the situation worse. Sounds so simple doesn't, "believe and all things are possible." Yet, do you accept that?
So when I sit this evening watching this program on this woman and her power to heal. I did believe what she was doing was possible, and I was not surprised that she was able to back these up with medical evidence. For you see, "you should never underestimate the power of a positive mind."

where are the reports.
what exactly happened when the media went into the doos of bethel.
were they threatened.
Just to add
I would like to suggest you do something in your local area to help and not think that one man is doing enough for you. This is a big issue and the silentlambs have not even touched the tip of the ice berg. Religion has abused children long enough, not just the JW's.

as an elder i had to investigate allegations made.
by people claiming "satanic abuse".. please be careful accepting this stuff at face value.. you can end up looking very stupid when exactly zero.
evidence is found.
Am I Satanic because I practice Wicca and Shamanism and do not feel Christianity is for me? I ask, as I wondering what people are defining as Satanic.

I see the problem as "you do have the power" and you do have the "means" ... do not let others do the work for you and assume that they are doing what is the most affective. Fight the laws and get things fixed on a local level. I do not see that kind of thinking as negative, I see it as productive.

I have seen my fair share of false accusations. Caution is the best policy.

I realize kelsey is pushing you, but I think he has a valid point. We have to realize that much of what we disliked about the Witnesses, is being repeated in regards to the silentlambs issue. Also, when someone puts themselves in the public eye. They better be willing to hear both sides. Thus, the reason politicians get to have there families dragged through the mud, just because they want to serve you. That is the freedom of this country, freedom of information. I have healed from the JW ways immensely, and I think many have. At this level in my life, I am most concerned that others realize where they are and not fall into any old ways.
I have done a lot with using the laws to help people. I will not lambaste myself with all that I have accomplished. I will say this though, my most affective positions came from going after the laws, and regulations. Nothing about making a media circus does anything. After all, isn't the circus of the media designed with hoping something changes? What changes? ... Law, policy, etc. Why not just go right to the heart of the matter and focus your energies there?
As a side note ... anyone that says "Do not speak about Bill when he is gone and not here to defend himself" should question themselves when they speak about the Governing Body. As they do not come to this board. Basically, if you are going to set a precident in your life, base it on logic and not emotion.
Just makes sense to me

what do you think will be the next big jw issue that should be brought out into the open?.
i think it could be the extreme physical abuse of women and children.
with all that bill bowen is doing, i don't think that he should be the one to take this on.
