ARE JW'S MORE HONEST THAN OTHERS?

one thing that the witnesses promote is how they are different from the rest of the world.

in your personal experience , did you find that you could trust a witness more than you could a non-jw?

Far from it !!!

I worked for a company for 15 years and made it known I was a dub. I hired a JW raised guy who worked out well and he took over my position when I left a year after I was Df.

He then left a year later and the company hired a bapt. JW to care for the admin and accounts of the company.

I was asked back and so returned after a 3 year period to replace this JW guy who wasn't happy with the pay he was getting.

After 6 weeks of being back in the job I began to find discrepancies in a number of our accounts and started following the paper trail. It resulted in a total of $54,000.00 he had pilfered from the company.

I had him in my office as I began my investigations and had a total of $14,000.00, asked him if there was any more money taken and he told me there wasn't. I kept looking and again had him in my office with a total of $35,000.00 and still he wouldn't say if that was the full amount. In the end I sent a fax to his Elder father explaining that his son continually lies to me about this issue and that unless he co-operates with my work the comapny will be pressing charges against him.

That got a bomb under his ar*e, and they were both in my office the next day. I knew his father personally from my borg days and so it was even more of a slap in the face that I the "evil one" was going to inform the authorities.

I think that some are prone to trust joho's more than others but in reality they are no better than you or me.

cab ride

twenty years ago, i drove a cab for a living.

when i arrived at 2:30 a.m., the building was dark except for a single light in a ground floor window.

Thank you TJ for that.

My Dad was a cab driver for many years and at his funeral a number of people came to me to express their sorrow and to show their appreciation for the wonderful, kind person he was during his time as a driver.

Obviously his actions had touched their lives in a way that moved them to travel into the middle of nowhere to see him off.

How did you view your congregation?

when i was in my congregation i found it to be a very selfish self spirited congregation,i also found many witnesses to be very easily offended and hyper sensitive oh and i forgot the gossip ohh the gossip was horrendous, this hyper sensitivity really got on my nerves because it was starting to rub off on me and i started to get paranoid and easily offended and i was never like that b4.. and what pi@@ed me off was the fact how brothers on the stage said how loving our congregation was and what a good reputation it was known to have.. but now i have left and im back to my down to earth happy personality.

All my dub life was spent in the one congo, and that was 30 years too many.

The majority of the people were really nice folks, whether it was because they were mainly low income types I don't know, but they were good people. There was your gossip mongers as ALL congo's have, the worst were the pioneers, nothing better to do than sit in cars while out counting time and gossiping about different ones.

There were definitely the stuck up self righteous prats, mainly elders and their families, plus the occassional older pioneer, all these so called spiritually strong ones, with heads so far up their.... well you know what I mean.

I think back on the majority of peeps in my old congo and really have fond thoughts. When I was reproved and removed as an elder/pioneer I got truckloads of support from the rank and files. I was bummed at the meeting when it was announced, but I had heaps come up to me, hug me and say they are glad that I am here etc...

Then, when I was Df, I got numerous annonymous notes and letters asking me to come back, this lasted for almost a year.

Even now, some will put aside their BS rules and talk to me, obviously when the time/place is appropriate.

Good people but blinded by the crud feed to them by the WTS.

ghosts

not to get too deep of a "scary" subject, but wanted to hear opinions out there.. when taught at the kh, we were always told there is no such things as ghosts, but if there were one it was a demon.

i want to use that as an example to how dogmatic they are about so many things, that if they say it to be one way, then that is the truth period.. as it turns out, growing up, we had a ghost in our house.

I too had similar thoughts about the fact that the WTS has strung us along with other BS in the past that the existance of ghosts or friendly spirits may also be valid. In view of the WTS track record we really can't take what they say too seriously, well I don't anyway as they claim that God's spirit directs the GB, the elders etc and we know this is a load of cr*p.

I have a good friend who helped me understand that there are such things out there, he too was an elder for many many years and sensed these spirits during all that time. I caught up with him last after many years of being apart and it was during this time that he enlightened my thoughts on the subject.

Since losing my father this year I have felt and experienced his presence around me, others I have been around have also commented that he is with me. My partner has heard footsteps around the house in the middle of the night while she is tending to our baby. The sounds are the same as when Dad was living with us, creaks going to the bathroom and then the kitchen and back to the lounge.

Does this ghost look familiar to any of those in your family ??

I think it is a personal choice whether to accept them or not. My friend did tell me that there are some nasty ones out there as he has on a number of occasions been asked to help clear them out.

laser surgery

i just got back from newport beach, where i had laser surgery on my eyes.

since the 5th grade, i have had to wear glasses.

each year my eyes have have needed a new prescription for stronger glasses into my 30's.

I had my eyes done back in '96 as well.

It sounds like the procedure they used on me was a bit behind the times. When I was done they used some scraping tool and took the layer off the front of the eye, such a horrible feeling, no pain, but you see the tool and feel the pressure of it on your eye, eeeekk.

In saying that though, I have perfect vision, well, perfect enough for me, altho I am accused of having "man eyes", nothing wrong with the vision it's just seeing what I'm looking for it the problem.

I voted for the first time

well actually it was about two weeks ago now, but i was just talking with another x-jw friend yesterday who commented how significant it was for her.

i'm not particularly political, i don't have strong opinions on politics, but it was pretty cool being free to do something that i had always been taught to believe was a terrible sin.. you see here in new zealand there was a general election held on july 27. all my life i have been in the borg and subsequently never voted, it wasn't allowed.

voting would have made me "part of satan's system of things" and all that.. so for the month or so leading up to the election i paid extra attention to the political situation in the country and made a decision and when the day came, i made my way to the polling place (the local high school hall) and voted.. just thought i'd share that with you all.

Yep, there's nothing like the feeling of being free from the clutches of the borg.

Since my exit I have made sure that I cast my vote.

My first election was awesome, I went down and voted, got some beers and sat with my cousin getting juiced while the votes were being counted. Can't remember the result apart from being hung over.

lol Beck, we call those sandals, jandals here. So the thought of a thong for me fortunately has no horro images of shoes in one's crack.

I have a sister who prefers to wear mens underpants. Just as well my brother doesn't like womens knickers.

Missing my dad.............

my father passed away in october.

today would have been his and mom's 50th wedding anniversary.

it's been a tough day - i miss him a lot.. dad was an elder, and mom is still a very active jw.

I lost my Dad after New Year and I miss him a lot. He was never a Joho, so I was able to know and love him as a son should after I was Df.

It's good that you were able to enjoy a good relationship with your folks despite the borg machine and their rules. I hope have a nice evening with your mom.

Double, I feel the same, that seperation is just a momentary thing, and that they are indeed in a better place. There are times when I think back a year and Dad was here with me, we were doing something together just a year ago. It hurts not having him here, but knowing and feeling that he is in a better place helps.

Yep I had a crack at it for a few years.

I had to do something to get my profile up within the borg. It worked too, before I was appointed as a ministerial servant, then it was on to bigger and grander things.

All for what ?? To be broke all the time thinking there were rewards for those putting the kingdumb first.
