Guilt...
WP, you are so right about that.
I pioneered because they kept pounded young childless couples about putting spiritual interests ahead of our own.
For 3 years I kept hearing that from the platform, I felt guilty.
I got slammed for having a bad track record and not reaching out, I felt guilty.
So it seemed the best way to make the many wrongs in my life right was to pioneer.
Yup, they sure know how to bombard you until you succumb to their ways.
I'm so glad I don't have to hear that rot again.

Ashi's Apostasy--Part 4 FBF's Committee
by 25ashitaka25 inso many things happened that i havent mentioned.
my wife almost died of an asthma attack along with an allergic reaction in 1999. in 2000, we saw all of our friends abandon us.
yet, we as a couple were as strong as ever, and continue to be.. in the fall of 2000 my brother-in-law did something remarkable.....he said no to the abuse his parents were bestowing on him.

Ashi,
What a remarkable experience.
Thank you for posting it so far.
You obviously have a discerning nature to know that FBF had an ulterior motive in meeting up with you.
I'm glad your bro-in-law has been able to live with his paretns on his terms.
I await the next part.

Ashi's Apostasy---Part 3 MF Rolls Over
by ashitaka inmf was a friend of mine for a long time.
he loved the congregation, and would defend it to the last.
around the same time my wedding was happening, things were heating up for him and a sister he had been in love with for years.

Thanks Ashi,
You know, I always wondered how elders were able to get away with so much.
I was always puzzled about the so-called operation of God's spirit in the cong.
I had come to realise that its not what you know, but who you know in that org.
I gotta read the next part.

Ashi,
That is such a touching tale of love at all costs.
You obviously have such a caring nature and not the programmed borg love for people.
So glad that you got the love of your life.
Keep going.

Ashi's Apostasy----Part 1
by ashitaka ini'm rather long-winded, as well pretentious sounding, but i had to break this tale into two parts in order to tell it....people would get bored otherwise.
(sorry for the blatent rip-off, amazing).
for those of you who don't know, i'm a raised jw, yet not born into it.

Kep
Ashi,
Very interesting, I can't wait for the next part.
Take your time though, some memories are difficult to write down when they bring up unwanted feelings.

Don't want to stumble anyone!
by Beck_Melbourne indid you have narrow minded turds as elders/overseers in your congregation?
yup so did i...they're everwhere.. "there was this one time..at band camp"....it was in a hired hall actually...where we used to organise congregation functions like farewells etc.
this usually consisted of food...non alcoholic beverages...and some entertainment...usually square dancing and some skits...and a presentation or speech.. at one function a particular elder was offended that the 'gay gordon' was one of the dances for the evening...so he promptly left...yup...at the next function it was renamed the 'happy gordon'...as his conscience wouldn't allow him to attend otherwise.

Far Out, I thought this was something unique to us Kiwi's.
I was a musician in the borg and would play at many gatherings through-out the area.
One small town we were preparing to play a waltz and the clown running the evening said that anyone who wanted to dance had to be with either their hubby/wife or a family member as it was inapproriate for unmarried couples to be that close together.
Another time I played we were counseled for playing an instrumental with the tune from the "Benny Hill Show". The music was fine, but as it was associated with a rather debauched TV show it was frowned upon.
It was difficult to please everybody.
Some people spend all their time looking for faults in others...
By the way Beck, I do have some bandcamp stories lol. -

What the Society expects of its members
by Xander ini was reading through some old quotes at the quotes.jehovahswitnesses.com site, and had something of an epiphany.
it is simultaneously revealing and revolting, and i'd like to share it.. what the society expects of its members.
the society expects its members to live and *die* for their teachings [yes, everyone here knows it - the society expects you do die for their teachings if necessary].. and, at the same time as you lie there dying for their beliefs, expects you to accept (?joyfully?

Yeah, that sucks BIGTIME.
Totally a slave to them.
