What are some of your favorite urban legends?

mine is the story of a lady who was witnessing alone in an apartment building, and aparently she knocked on the door of some rapists/murderers/drug dealers......whatever......she was "saved" by two angels, only visible to the attackers, that accompanied her on that visit.

.

or how about the one where a householder had his finger on the trigger of a gun and was just about to pull it when.....all of a sudden....out of nowhere (drumroll please) a witness knocked on his door and offered him "the promise of everlasting life in the new system of thingstm"!!

I was puzzled by that as well Dakota.
Does that mean the angel protected the expensive machinery?
During such experiences the borg like to highlight God's angels working for his people, guarding them. Yet they don't publicly speak of guardian angels.
I think some people have Guardians with them, protecting them.

Look how far we have come!

i just wanted to share with everyone who knows my hubby (jst2laws) & my situation just how far we have come since last spring.

it was at that time that we started fading, he by stepping down as an elder and together trying to become inactive without much fanfare.

well last night hubby thought he might want to have some fun over at a jw site and tried to get on that site when he realized, and then said to me, that he doesnt know the answers to the questions they were asking.

Congrats to you both.
It is so true not having to wrack your brain to remember such tripe.
My sister and I have a good laugh too when mum is off to the meeting.
I always tell her that she's gone to church.
When we were dubs it was so derogatory to call the "meetings" church, as if our meetings were so special.
Now my other sister who is inactive calls it church too.
Sounds so funny.

there's one sure-fire way to tip off your jw friends and family that you're leaning apostate.... just stop insisting on calling jehovah "jehovah" all the time.

call him "god" more often.

talk about raised eyebrows and mumbled conversations over in the corner!

I will have to watch my language as my 18 month old is starting to learn words.
Whenever I do anything like drop my lighter it "Jesus F*n Christ".

If my dub mother heard my baby say that she would cark it !!

Where have all the children gone?

how did the next line of the peter, paul and mary song go?.

"long time passing".. children in the witness community here in oz seem to be disappearing.. there was a time when each congregation could expect to count new publishers each year from the children growing up in witness families.

say 1 or 2 in an average 100 publisher congregation.

i'm glad that jehovah will kill you,yet!.

there is alot of things that i want to say but you know that jesus said in matt 24:9-11 that you would hate his faithful ones ,but to be honest with you ,we don't hate you ,cause in matt 5;1-9 says that we will be hated,so since we all know that ,than it is a pleasure that you talk about us.and other thing that i want to say is that people in the world thinks that we are crazy ,but if you would read the old testament than you will know that the jews were to serpart themselves from the other nations and that is how jehovah's witness fell about it,see when the jews would be around other nations than they would forget jehovah and they would worship other gods.when they do that ,it would cost them their lives.so it is good that you are talking about us and i would like for you to continue to do so .why?

Suicides within Jehovah's Witnesses

over the past 3-4 years i've been hearing about a number of suicides that have been committed by jws.

whats even more interesting is that all of the individuals were male and they all had some form of a privileged position in the congregation.

(regular pioneer, elder, minsterial servant, etc..).

I know of 2 that have done this.
One chap was Df and was shunned bigtime by his family.
Reflecting back his mother regrets shunning him.
As a result, my mother has a lot of contact with me and the rest of my evil slave siblings.
Another young fella who was a son of an elder had also taken his life.
So tragic.
