what will you do when harmageddon is here?

You are assuming that this is going to happen in our/your lifetime.
So many people have been living in the last days thinking armageddon will be here.
They've grown old and died.
What makes you think you're gonna see it??
It's just a pipe dream. I will be long gone if and when it happens.
i'd be interested in hearing some of the exjw's door-to-door experiences.
i've probably had the saturday morning door knocking...maybe 6-8 times.
i've never been "rude" except for once...when i had a particularly aggressive pair who wouldn't take "no thank you" for an answer.
Some days were good, and some weren't.
I am one of those people that can talk for an hour to a complete stranger about nothing...
So going from door to door wasn't as bad as it is for others.
You get your rude people, but it's water on a ducks back, you expect those responses.
If you're with a partner, you find the humorous side of it as you carry on down the street.
The times I did have trouble was when working with the co or Service Overseer.
You think they're standing there watching you to see if you are applying all the suggestions given thru the meetings etc...
Most times I enjoyed just talking to people more so than trying to flick the literature off to them.
i am not trying to be sarcastic.
however, it just doesn't make sense to me.
if a christian is one who "follows christ" how does that apply to the jw's?
They may have started out as christians.
But as time has passed they have succumbed to the lure of the mighty dollar.
Building up a huge printing empire.
Their only concern is getting more of their BS books out to as many suckers as they can.
Then, get you into a bible study and make you one of their drones.
Selling more of their books with false promises of a paradise around the corner.
Plus, you get to work for free on their construction sites.
What would Jesus think ??
many are those of us here who often ask who's who in the wbts.
to simplify things it would be a good idea if a volunteer would create a web site specificaly with this aim.
it could lead also for a book.. if one needs to consult the biography of don adams, joel adams, karl adams, etc., this site would furnish the answer.
my jw mother used to peel the cross off the hot cross buns at easter time...she said it was her way of compromising...so that we werent partaking of anything pagan.
did anyone have parents like mine...or am i the only one??
what was your understanding of easter eggs and hot cross buns at easter time?
I remember there was an elder who had a bakery.
Every easter he would make hot cross buns, but would call them "sticky fruit" buns....
Guess that explains why he sold the business after 2 years.

Well I grew up a dub and had similar difficulties, but I did have mates at school and within the cong.
The bonds of friendship were not strong one, but we all got along alright.
As I got older I had a select number of friends, but only 1 really close mate, closer than a brother he was.
Yep, had all the chains as well, can't do this or that.
There is a wealth of experience here and I hope you are able to gain some helpful suggestions.

hi everyone.... as some read in my "an update on my situation" post, i'm trying to gradually leak some small truths to my parents... the key word being gradually.
so, a few hours ago, we received a phone call from a "brother" in the cong... he was excited about something.
my dad took the call, and started asking something about abc (the tv channel).
is it just my computer or is everything pink now?

We were there on holiday and she's an Aerosmith freak.
So we get back to NZ, got this funky pink 45rpm record, and nothing to play it on!!
I must dig up the cd collection or download it off the net to listen to it.
Put that on the turntable and all you see is pink alright.
some of you on this board know me, or at least part of my story, very likely most of you do not.. i am a 21 yr old male from chicago who finally mustered the courage to da myself roughly 6 months ago.
being a 3rd-generation jw, my grandfather was an elder 45 years, so this developed a reputation and precedence for me that i would one day be a co.. or go to bethel.
such high expectations, which i am happy i never fulfilled.

Well mate, it seems we have been in the same boat. It's just your turn to row!!
I'm the same, 3rd gen JW, felt I had all the expectations of my family upon my shoulders.
Trust, well that's is sure a tough one. I was like that, and I still am. There are walls upon walls, so that some people get thru to a certain point and then that's it, no further.
I lost all my friends.
But I tell you one thing, when people are around me, they are comfortable, there's no bad vibes. So I have a lot of mates, but not friends.
I reckon it takes time, you're a "freshie" so it will take a while to adjust to being oh so popular one minute and scum of the earth the next.
This is a good place, with good people who have been down the same path as all of us.
