It depends alot on where you happen to be. In our area, we have an X-Elder in a Rural congregation that grew his hair long like a hippie. He still comes to Sunday meetings. It propably is a rebelious thing. Another X Elder has admitted to reading the Apostate sites, but he acts as if the sites are stupid. Why on earth does he admit to it, I wondered? I don't think you'll see them pass the microphone anytime, soon.

Brother with "Apostate Leaning" not kicked out yet?...
by RagingBull ina few sundays ago, i noticed a brother who rarely comes to the hall anymore (my attendance is sketchy anyway) even though his wife still does.
he had a full on goatee, and his wife has expressed to other sisters that he's just "trusting in the bible and not the organization so much".
the elders must know of this b/c his father-n-law is an elder in our congregation.

Dec.15th WT -WTS Expects JW's to Preach Despite Chronic Illness - Sick !
by flipper inin the dec.15th jw only version in an article titled " do not let illness rob you of joy " it promotes being a martyr in jehovah's witnesses preaching door to door in spite of debilitating and often life threatening illnesses .
ask yourself if jesus would have stood with a whip to the back of his disciples if they had these illnesses or medical conditions ??.
under the subheading entitled " they keep preaching despite chronic illness " with pictures of these alleged sick people sharing how they " sacrifice " to spread the wt society's message i will share the quotes with my takes.. izabella who suffers depression states, " i like the door to door ministry , but when i am not feeling up to it , i engage in telephone witnessing.

Wow, I must be a slacker, because I haven't read that Dec Mag. yet. I do have a chronic illness, but I have the soundness of mind to accept my limitations. Some unfortunately don't and you can see why. It's because of these experiences of such ones that give us the impression that you are not doing enough.
However, I have worked in First Aid at assemblies, and I have seen so many that were so ill that ended up in the first aid department. These were regular ones that should have stayed home. Some attended the Assemblies and brought their medical chairs. The attendants tried to discourage them from setting them up, but these handicapped, injurred chronically ill people have attitude. Even the DO couldn't talk these ones to obey the fire regulations. Some are really dear, but some are really out to lunch.
I have worked with too many grumpy individuals in FS and they really shouldn't be pushing themselves like this. They really are not happy. We had a dear older sister who lived in an Long Term Care who A/ pioneer one April. She died of Neumonia the next month. Some praised her for her faith, and dedication. But, some said we killed her. She always looked sad.

Yes, I do remember using this verse as was advised in the Soc Publications to put down the Mormon Book. But, I was easily corrected when that mormon explained to me that the Evangile of John was written after the Revelation of John. This rationale or argument worked on someone who really didn't have enough knowledge of the Bible Cannon, and it's formulation. I agree with GL, in that it refers to the specific book.
Bible translation is a complex science, and certainly out of my realm of expertise, and abilities. I do like the various translations though in how they render certain verses and how some but not all are not biased.

How many ex-JW's are musicians on here?
by NoRegrets injust wondering how many of us on here are musicians, what we play, and if we had witness bands and/or performed.
i have had quite a few funny moments of being in bands that wanted to be cool, but always had to nerf the edginess of any songs we played and watch the noise!
i played with different elders who loved to rock out, but when they played at a congregation party didn't even want to use overdrive of any kind!

Thanks, No Regrets. I love blues as well.
I'm getting rusty on my guitar lately. Just feel so busy these days. It feels great when I get to pick it up now and then.

Is the Oct 30 WT study a Prelude to a Tithing towards the Soc.
by Quarterback init felt weird discussing this topic this week about this term, "share" of the levites.
.
some made comments that alluded to the financial assistance that we are currently doing towards sponsoring the bethels around the world.. i wouldn't be surprised that a new thought comes out soon about that ten percent rule.. .

I play the guitar, some rythm, and lead. I can do some Hendrix, and Clapton. I will not play, "Stairway to Heaven" backwards though.

The Honeymoon Stage...well kind of
by mrsjones5 ini'm keeping my distance from my parents but i keep running into my mother around town.
yesterday it was at walmart, a couple of weeks ago it was at the mall.
both times my husband was not acknowledged (basically shunned), hubby says its a weird feeling but he's ok with not having to talk to my mother.. i call my mother every couple of weeks or so and the last time i spoke to her (about two days before walmart) she said that she wished we could go shopping or go to lunch together.

Thanks for sharing that history with me, Mrs Jones. It's always good to get a bit of understanding of the people that listen to you when you want to vent about things. Controlling moms can get you down. Glad to know that you are managing well.
