Try and get them a copy of the Book of James that was printed in the early 70's. Of course the Society has dropped it's circulation.

How can one get JW friends or family to read Ray Franz' books?
by Fernando inone idea: ask them to explain "legalism" and its opposite to you.
keep asking questions to draw them out, get them to clarify and speak from the heart.. there is only one article in the entire wt library cd referring to "legalism" and it reads like a summary of his book isocf..

Did your spirituality improve after confessing to wrongdoing?
by jwfacts ini was reading this thread, http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/members/private/220730/1/had-my-jc-today-oh-sugar, and morbidzbaby mentioned their husband confessed to uncleaness because he did not feel he was getting blessed by jehovah.
however, blessings did not increase after the confession.. it made me wonder about the whole idea of confessing so that you do not loose jehovah's blessing.
when i was in bethel i confessed about a couple of menial things.

That's right Cofty. Confidentiality is all too often compomised in a congregation setting. Having said that, there are certain Elders that I do trust, and then there are many that I don't.
I remember so time ago, when an unbaptised smoker women who occasionially attended the meetings devulged some confidentiality about someone who lived 1000 miles away from us. She had heard about it through her fleshly sister, who's married to an Elder that handled the case. I had been told some very personal stuff about that case ....from someone outside of the congregation...imagine.

Confessing works under the right circumstances. I somehow feel that confidentiality is not respected by some members of the committee. Sometimes, certain Elder's families became aware of such private affairs and continued to spead it in the congregation. I have seen it happen, over, and over again. If trust is compromised, would you feel like confessing?
You're better off talking to a trusted friend or a qualied counsellor. My best friend, is God.

I'm not too sure that the WTS is facing a financial crisis. I think that some are realizing the gold mine of the type real estate they are sitting on in Brooklyn. Once these bldg's are sold they will have a large nest egg. The next step of downsizing Bethel staff, just allows them to accomplish the work they want to accomplish with less. Less financial/human resources. It would be interesting to see the stat's in the upcoming years.

The pictures....Why wasn't the wife with the husband next to him watching tv in a comfortable living room? Why did the husband have to go to the kitchen, and sit on those uncomfortable chairs that are fit to only sit on for 1/2 to eat? Why play a game on the cold floor? Why not in the living room with more comfortable furniture?
Why is the wife passed out drunk, under those sheets in the bedroom bed? What's the deal with the picture with the husband turning off the light with, or without that book on the night table? Is he to keep his wife up longer, and read a few pages, before she tells him to, " turn that f##king light off. Geez....I have no f**king comfortable furniture in this house, and this bed is the only comfortable place for me to enjoy myself"

Very tiny change to Service Meeting Announcements protocol.
by Open mind infor those who want to keep up with the "pure language", i found out this week that at the most recent elder's school, they were told that the announcements should no longer include the following:.
1. name of public talk and speaker for sunday.
2. synopsis of all the parts that are coming up on the rest of the service meeting.

This will be forgotten in time, and we will still continue to call this the Bulletin Board. Last week, I saw a thank-you card on that board.
It's so crazy to see what the Soc tends to split hairs over. They have no control over the boredom of meetings, low attendance rates, low service hours, people leaving their marriages. Marrying outside of the faith. But, that Bulletin Board....Heads are going to roll over that one.
