So we shouldn't only watch numbers....I guess not. There are more Catholics out there, than JW's.
And, what else should we watch?
so loch made this gem of a quote on saturday: the "slave makes mistakes, truth is revealed progressivily.
our understanding changes and gets better" .
he also said that we know we have the "truth" because thousands are baptized but we should not only watch numbers..... ok, huge eye roll..

one of the big adjustments for many of us was growing older and realizing retirement was a reality.
did you have a company or government retirement package or personal ira or 401k.
what advice would you give the 20 to 60 year olds coming to term with 'life in this system'..
I'm fortunate to have a good pension. It's about secure as the rest our given the times that we are living in.
In Canada, we have RRSP's instead of 401 K's. I never beleived in being the one having the most expensive gravestone at a gravesite, so me and my spouse will be content with what we have saved up.
Getting there though, you have to resist the pressure that the society puts on you for dropping your savings plans to get out and becoming a pioneer, and getting out of the work force early. Many in the ORG are not so fortunate, but still some are not too bad., depending on which country you live in.
my jw parents refused to eat food from religious restaurant, they have very good reviews.
i was wondering when you were jw, did you go to any religious restaurant?
.
Lilbluekitty, here in Canada we have a sacred donut/coffee shop too. It's called Tim Horton's. Named after a famous Hockey player.
Many JW's frequent it on Saturdays, and during the week for coffee breaks. It is very addictive to go there. It's almost like what the Asians consider to be an Opium house, but the drug that is used is Caffeine and other mysterious chemicals..and oh yes...it is now the season of "Roll up the rim, to win" A pagon celebration that the Society hasn't caught up to yet. It's like buying a lottery ticket and winning a car.
yes, enjoy the day, and the good thing about this is that there are no pagon roots in this holiday..
Florida, is good.
Tal: It would be a pleasure to adopt you into my family.
oholiab were guided by gods spirit?
oholiab were guided by gods spirit is the.
gods spirit.
That's interesting. Was it really a human sacrifice? Judges 11:40 states that she was visited yearly by many and commended for her actions of loyalty.
paragraph 15: "he vowed that if god gave ammon into jephthah's hand, the first one to come out of the door when he returned home would be jehovah's.
as jephthah returned home from subduing ammon, his daughter came running to meet him.

Human sacrifices were never acceptable to Jehovah. Jeremiah 32: 35 mentions that, "such a thing has never entered into His heart". The sacrifices were not always living things. Based on the person's financial status, a measure of wheat could have been offered.
I'm not sure about how the drama played out between, Jephta, and his daughter, but we know what message the society is giving. They want many to give their children to full-time service whether in Bethel, or pioneering. Of course, the parents have not vowed this, but the Society is implying that they did, or they should, and it's all a wonderful thing.
I'm not sure what would have happened if Jephta's daughter would have refused.
hi all.
the irish branch has had lots of drama over the years from john may in the 1980s to the recent removal of practically all the branch committee in the mid noughties to its being closed down quite recently.. i heard on the grapevine that two of the branch committee had actually come to physical blows and there was blood on the carpet.. also many many witnesses spoke of the totalitarian environment there.. does anyone have anything further to corroborate or add to this?.
wildelover.
Loved Phizzy's accent.
Why doesn't the Irish branch listen to Bono's words.
"We're one, but we're not the same
We've got ot carry each other, carry each other.

i know that there is no mention of any birthday celebrations in the bible besides the two which were celebrated by non-believers.
and it just so happened that on each of these events, someone died (one non-believer and one believer).
but does it mean that just because the bible mentions these two events, that all birthday celebrations are forbidden?
Well Faithful brother.....is there birthday on the horizon for you?
The Elder(s) book doesn't state that it is a DF matter. So I will wish you a HB.
I think that one day 'B" days will be allowed ...the rationale in that publication mentioned on BITB's post makes a hint about that. Or, maybe it was printed to allow the Mexicans to beat the hell out of that Panata, and to suck them in. I can't really see the difference.
I can't see really the difference or harm in toasting glasses, as well. But, the old timers have it ingrained in their minds. You really have to be patient in this faith.

while you're busy not having "any" contact with your family and you need help, it's ok to contact your family because they are not going to help you.....
The illustration of the Prodigal son helps us to realize that parents should be helping out their family as a duty. The account states that the son wanted to follow a course of debauchery, and the father knowing this still gave him, his part of the family inheritance.
