Quick question for recent convention attendees, did your hotel offer box lunches?
by Theocratic Sedition inour hotel did, and on the surface that's no big deal.
matter fact i think it's a good business move on the hotel's part and pretty darn good customer service.
after the song was finished and the chairman did his announcements initiating the noon break, i got to wondering if the wt had anything to do with these box lunches offered by the hotel.

Yes, I do remember those references, Blondie. But, what a pain it was to invent a bagged lunch while you hurdled to get your seat saved.
Which grocery was opened early enough to sell you items to prepare a lunch. You were expected to be there for the day, and not supposed to leave during lunch hour to shop for lunch. If that is not a burden.
We are fortunate to drive only 45 minutes to the DA. I feel for those that have to struggle with this.
It was a lot kinder in the good ol days.

Latest "Questions From Readers" - who wrote in with this question?!
by cedars ini kid you not.
the latest watchtower study edition has the following question under consideration in the "questions from readers" article on page 20:.
do jesus words found at matthew 19:10-12 suggest that those who choose to remain single have received the gift of singleness in a mysterious way?.

Well to some, being single may be a mystery.
But to those that are selecting a marriage mate they are more aware of why that person is still single, i.e "Loser, pervert, creeps you out, unemployable, sh#t disturber etc".
Some just don't get it. But, who has the guts to really tell that person the truth as to why they should still be single. It's better to tell them that they possess a gift. A Consolation gift.

canada bethel laying off ppl in shipping
by jnrtigbfxd0 inso when the mags for north america + carribbean were to be printed in canada, canada bethel (aka georgetown) sent out notices to all disctrict conventions in 2008 that they need lots of help.
i think the bethel family increased to over 400 with at least 50 new guys just for shipping.. however, now that the mags are only 16 pages, lots of those new guys are being layed off.
the double shift (6-2,2-11) is now being combined into one shift (8-4/5 i guess).

Well, there was no viagra in the first century. But, now that we have it, all resurrected ones will be happy.

If solid proof were suddenly found that the Book of Enoch should be included in the standard Bible, would that pose a problem for the Jehovah's Witnesses in regards to Michael the Archangel as Jesus?
by I_love_Jeff inif the book of enoch (elaborates and gives mention to 6 more archangels) suddenly became part of the bible due to solid evidence, how would this effect the shakey jw doctrine of michael the archangel as being jesus?
there are six other archangels mentioned in this book; could it be possible, if included in the jw bible, that one of the other archangels could be jesus?
would they excuse it somehow and simply stick with their implicit understanding of jesus=michael?.

So, Leo
The fact that parts of the Enoch book was written at different times, wouldn't that alone invalidate the authenticity of the book?

Thanks, Leo
There is quite a bit to asimilate here. I will spend some time looking into this. I did spend some time looking into Wikipedia about the Book of Enoch.
At first glance you would think that if this was accepted as part of the Canon, the argument for the Heavenly afterlife is favored.
The WT says that this book was written after the apostles, however there is evidence that some fragments have been found with the Dead Sea scrolls...that's interesting.
