I'm not too sure about the sword, but He did invent Baseball.
Doesn't the Genesis acct say, "In the Big Inning......"
in genesis 3, when adam and eve are kicked out of the garden, it says there is a flaming sword guarding the way to the tree of life.. this was before adam and eve had any children yet.. but metalworking and forging are not mentioned until tubal-cain -- adam's great great great great great grandson -- comes along.
not sure if it means he invented the forging of tools or if he was just a blacksmith, though.. but back to the main point.
if there was this sword guarding the way to the tree of life, does that mean god invented swords?.

why doesnt god heal amputees?.
not one amputee healing...... why only invisible, ambiguous disease?.

Ill Health has plague mankind for many years. In history there are so many accounts of mortality rates being high in comparaison to today.
Today we have come along way to combat illness through the advance of science and research. Such medicines as penicillin, and insulin along with many other medical advances has improved our longevity. This was not due to prayers, it was due to taking the initiative and our creativity.
There is a study that is being conducted on prosthetics (limbs) such as leg replacements. This new prosthetic will be able to be controlled with a human mind. It will certainly be a breadthrough when the study is final, but it will take five years to complete.
I beleive that prayers help your mental disposition in a way to cope with ill health...but it won't perform a healing miracle. Remember that the Apostle Paul had poor eyesight, and prayed to have his vision improved. He didn't get that prayer answered.
just finished our 2 day and one of the talks by the do indicated that single sisters in the congregation are to be subservient to all male brothers in the hall..as well a widow too is of the same "status".
is this a new thought or just now an open secret?.
personally, i dont think that is good - after all there are many elders who although, supposedly appointed by hs, can be personally involved with porn behind closed doors or nasty with his wife and family.. i personally know of two like that .... why should i listen to a "stranger" about my life?
Did someone say..Cookies?
What kind?
I'm going to Wall Mart right now to get that apron.

TL,
There are some good DO's and CO's and some are nasty.
It's a hard, demanding job, and I would imagine that it is not fun or fulfilling.
You are very kind to offer to extend your hand as a gesture of friendship to someone that rubs you the wrong way.
I have heard so many weird things come from DO's, I stopped taking them seriously along time ago.
But, TL, come on now....what's wrong with the apron?

Good point about the single parents, TL.
The 1st century considered the Widows, and orphans...that would apply to the single parents of today.
When the letter of Timothy speaks of respect to male members, it means it in a relative sense. Not in an elevated sense. You are a complement of a man. Many women showed that they were capable in making great decisions, and Jehovah did tell Abraham to listen to his wife, Sarah.
The DO should of clarified that.
With respect,
QB.

If you are a single sister, you can tell any male member that you despise to fook-off.
(2 john 9,10) 9 everyone that pushes ahead and does not remain in the teaching of the christ does not have god.
he that does remain in this teaching is the one that has both the father and the son.
10 if anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, never receive him into your homes or say a greeting to him.. .
The application of 2 Jo 9-10 is not applied consistently with the WT ORG.
You have relatives that were raised as JW's but because they were not baptized, they can be accepted into your homes, you can have a restaurant meal with them, you include them in your associations.
Then you have relatives that did get baptized, but because they disagreed in the rigid routine, they withdrew, and wrote a letter of Dissassociation out of obtaining some peace of mind. These ones are the ones that the Society claims this applies to.
The scripture does give a message of shunning, but, common sense would demonstrate that the Society doesn't get it.
i tweeted this link a couple of days ago but forgot to post it here .
the uk charity commission has refused to renew the charitable status of the plymouth brethren, a cultlike sect similar to the watchtower in so many ways.
as a result, some members of parliament are claiming that the commissions action is a "suppression of religion".
So, this is the beginning of the destruction of Babylon the Great, eh?
first of all, i really appreciate it when official, especially "secret," boe letters and the like are posted here.
it's great to have that stuff on hand, straight from the horse's... uhh...mouth, when certain "friends" deny the slave would ever do or say such and such.... anyway, there have been some references to a letter they sent out about using ipads and the like during congregation meetings.
could anyone provide a scan or link to this letter?
Yes, and I remember talking to some brothers in Bethel during the 80's and they said that only apostates use the internet. We really have some people that aren't open minded to the latest, state of art gadgets that we bragged about when we developed that "Photo drama of creation" back in the day.

The Society has a website that allows you to download it's publications. It seems to be open to the use of the IPAD, but the standard for the platform is still behind the times. It seems that Elders will have to use the Large size Bibles for the platform.
It sure would lessen our load if we could just bring a regular size Bible, and Ipad to replace all of the publications we need to bring to the meetings.
