JW ended a relationship with me
by V1922 inmy jw boyfriend just ended a year and a half relationship with me.
it came out the blue and i'm deeply hurt by this because we were so compatible.
he did it right before the big annual gathering he is presently attending.

You mentioned that he left you before the Big Annual Gathering(BAG). Well that makes sense. You can expect him to call or text you after the Big Annual Gathering(BAG). You see the BAG is a large dating platform that single JW's attend to meet other JW singles. He is cutting ties with you to be free to date other female JW's. When he realizes that it didn't work out there, he'll be back.
But you better have some strong negotiation skills in place when he does. Start telling him, "You better put a ring on it".

When did things turn from paganism to religious?
by ssn587 inheard someone mention that certain acts are pagan.
so thinking about it, i surmised that marriage, sex, eating certain things were okay and then after g-d gave the law to moses (supposedly) there was a separation for things, actions etc., that were pagan and otherwise bad.
just wondering what others may think about this.

Paganism is a broad group of religions including modern Pagan religions, and magical and polytheistic religions. Paganism has also been understood by some to include any non-Abrahamic religions, but this is generally seen as insulting by adherents of those religions. It is often taken to exclude monotheism, and to express a worldview that is pantheistic, polytheistic, or animistic, however there are some monotheistic Pagans.[1] Once monotheistic religions such as Christianity and Islam started to become more prominent (in processes known as Christianization and Islamization), names to encompass polytheistic worshipers started to develop; some of these include Hellene, Pagan, and Heathen, at times these names were used as slurs.
Modern knowledge of old Pagan religions comes from several sources, including: anthropological field research records, the evidence of archaeological artifacts, and the historical accounts of ancient writers regarding cultures known to the classical world. Before the rise of monotheistic religions, most people practiced some type of polytheism. Many of these religions started to die out and eventually became extinct. In some cases, elements of polytheistic belief systems continued into folklore. Paganism would later be studied during the Renaissance and Romantic era. Forms of these religions, influenced by various historical Pagan beliefs of pre-modern Europe, exist today and are known as contemporary or modern Paganism, also referred to as Neopaganism.[2][3]

Tim's has gone down lately. The Dark Roast is not too bad. But, I like a bold cup, and I like it black. If I had a choice, I would choose Starbucks. -

Governing Body Obesity
by Calebs Airplane innot sure if this subject has been covered recently but i thought i'd make this observation anyway.... i remember when the word "gluttony" was a frequently mentioned sin in public talks, in the wt publications, in convention talks, etc.. in fact, in the 80's and 90's it wasn't unusual to hear the words "gluttony" and "disfellowship" mentioned in the same sentence.
i haven't been to a meeting in over 5 years, so i'm not sure if they still harp on the subject of gluttony or other excesses.
but i can't help but notice how much heavier the gb 2.0 has become compared to previous regimes.

I'm afraid that I'm one of those Overweight people. I blame it on those Dam potato chips. If I don't watch myself I could eat a whole big bag of em, while watching TV. Then the TV advertising flashes images of Pizza, Hamburgers, Pasta, and Hot Dogs. I have low self control when it comes to junk food. Maybe I'm a glutton. They make Gluten free products, why can't they make things Glutton free? -

Pioneer school in 1000 words
by oppostate inthis strange photo is from a pioneer school graduating class in russia.. they're hiding their faces because, supposedly they don't want to be identified as jw's and run the risk of persecution.. the picture is very telling.
this very well illustrates how the pioneer school aims to make everyone into faceless drones whose minds are copies of wt indoctrinated automatons and not really individuals.. another thing i noticed when looking at the photo is that some aren't following the instructions to obscure their faces--some peek their eyes above the illuminators textbook and one is quite clearly exposing his profile as if he was talking to his neighbor in mid-shutter instant.. third, it's in russia, and the jw's aren't too welcome there.
communist oligarchs were quite acquainted with indoctrination and brain-washing techniques, they didn't like competition.

I've often thought that Conventions Auditoriums were over booked for many years. How many have arrived at a descent hour only to find very few seating availability. The Attendants end up with the headaches in trying to find seating for such ones and many times come up empty. So help us God, if this comes to the local congregations. I'm not surprised that the WT is feeling a money crunch.
It's kind of a Greece situation, and this is our Austerity measures.

Jehovah's Witness meets a Born Again Christian on a Train. Oh and a Muslim
by passwordprotected ina couple of saturdays ago i and my girlfriend (who happens to be baptised into the greek orthodox religion, but practises greek catholic...no, she's not greek) were on the virgin train from glasgow to london.. we had reserved seats on the quiet zone of the train, because y'know, a 5 hour train journey shouldn't be sullied by mobile phones ringing and noisy conversations.. somewhere around the lake district a very tall woman sits at the table across the carriage from us, a table already occupied by a very chatty, bearded man in his late 50s, along with his wife.
this man was directing people where to stow their luggage and asking random travellers questions about their journey to the point where i sent my girlfriend a text message (easier to communicate that way without others overhearing us) asking if he was the "train boss".. he struck up a conversation with this new passenger about his travels, but i wasn't really paying attention as i was watching a movie on my ipad, wearing noise cancelling headphones.
after a little while i noticed they'd stopped chatting and the woman was now reading.

Your noise cancelling Headphones are not working too well. You should buy some good Bose headphones.
