Good points Blondie. You made me think in a way that never came to mind while I attended this WT study at our meeting. I have been running with this stuff for over 50 years. That's the crazy race that I've been in.

Lamallcool, you can't entrust this sacred duty to just anyone who would bring their own flashlights. This a a real important duty. It is in the KH.
It is a part of the instruction we receive on the school. If we just allow the friends to bring their own flashligts, what will it be next? Cell phones? Iphones? IPAD's that light up? Lanterns with oil, Balsom oil?

In Canada, most Civil Servant jobs, especially in sensitive records, must be bonded, and and a CPIC check is a requirement.
B, that's horrible that such sensitive, confidential information got leaked out. Anyone who does that would be dismissed. I know of some cases where this has happened, but not with JW's.
Quite a few years ago, the Society wrote a specific letter to Dr's that were members of JW's, and it addressed their confidentiality arrangements. It was quite some time ago, but, I do remember what was commented on the matter.
I know that the Soc expects you to approach your brother or sister if you witness something wrong and if they don't approach the Elders you are to go to that step.
If Dr's or Lawyer's have that patient confidentiality agreement through the exercise of their office, others who are custodials of such information in the care of their positions have a responsibility to maintain the public's trust. When it becomes a matter of concience and the employee can't handle this condition of their employment, they should quit and work somewhere else.

Very good responses.
How about these qualifications?
10) 10 hrs per month FS ( of course)
9) Should have at least one arm, and steady hand (that should rule out the masterbaters)
8) Should be tested as to having a good aim first
7) Should be disciplined and focussed ( shouldn't be tempted with staring at watch, no matter how boring the talk is)
6) Go over the questions in the Lamp book ( some might remember that one)
5) Ability to spy ( squeal on those that don't have a good outline)
4) Attire should be modest and not flashy
3) Not prone to wrath, or flatulence
2) Not a torturer of cats, by exhausting them in chasing the beam of light. He must hold that flashlight as sacred.
1) Must not be enrolled in University, or any higher learning facility.

Hi B,
I do know of some JW's that work at hosp's and Dr's offices ...they haven't disclosed anything confidential that they have become aware of. They did take their professions seriously.
