  hi all.

  the irish branch has had lots of drama over the years from john may in the 1980s to the recent removal of practically all the branch committee in the mid noughties to its being closed down quite recently.. i heard on the grapevine that two of the branch committee had actually come to physical blows and there was blood on the carpet.. also many many witnesses spoke of the totalitarian environment there.. does anyone have anything further to corroborate or add to this?.

  Can anyone prove that birthday celebrations are forbidden by God?

  i know that there is no mention of any birthday celebrations in the bible besides the two which were celebrated by non-believers.

  and it just so happened that on each of these events, someone died (one non-believer and one believer).

  but does it mean that just because the bible mentions these two events, that all birthday celebrations are forbidden?

  The Elder(s) book doesn't state that it is a DF matter. So I will wish you a HB.

  I think that one day 'B" days will be allowed ...the rationale in that publication mentioned on BITB's post makes a hint about that. Or, maybe it was printed to allow the Mexicans to beat the hell out of that Panata, and to suck them in. I can't really see the difference.

  I can't see really the difference or harm in toasting glasses, as well. But, the old timers have it ingrained in their minds. You really have to be patient in this faith.

  The illustration of the Prodigal son helps us to realize that parents should be helping out their family as a duty. The account states that the son wanted to follow a course of debauchery, and the father knowing this still gave him, his part of the family inheritance.

  Though I was young in 1968, I would have placed that Awake article.

  That was the year Martin Luther King was killed.

  The Beatles announced the creation of Apple records

  Robert F Kenedy was shot

  Saddam Hussein becomes Vice Chairman to the Revolutionary Council of Iraq, through a Coup d'etat.

  Hawaii 5-0, and 60 Minutes debuts on TV

  Birth of Canadian Singers, Sarah McLachlin, and Celine Dion.

  But non of this will be mentioned of course in the Special talk.

  someone who works at a college locally, pointed out to me that one of their scholar students was stocking shelves at a dollar store.. with this recession, are you finding that higher learning is wasting time?

  i know that it's necessary to become a dr. or a lawyer, but, with the shortage of work, even teachers are working as secretarys.. what do you think?.

  Mind you, I do respect people who mop the floors for a living. My roots come from a long list of mopologists. I think that my family invented the mop.

  in 1517, martin luther wrote in a letter to archbishop albert of mainz: you must graciously forgive that i, that scum of the earth, am so bold as to dare to address a letter to you.. yes, i know, you think of me as scum, just like mainz believed of luther, wondering how i dare write you a letter, someone jehovahs witnesses disfellowshipped back in 2002. i was accused of being an unrepentant sinner and condemned for causing divisions, then labeled apostate because i spoke out publicly on nbcs dateline tv program aboutthe child sexual abuse policies that protected pedophiles policies that you helped formulate.

  Your advice please on "Scriptual Divorce"

  my ex and i have a legal divorce.. she asked me to write a letter to the b.o.e so she can get a scriptual divorce.. she said she had spoken to the c.o.b.e ans they would take no action against me as i haven't been to a meeting in about 12 years.. my reply "ok get him to put that in writing".

  so do you think they will put that in writing?.

  and would they take action if i did write the letter giveing her a scriptual divorce?.

  You have broken free for 12 years. You are free to move on. This is your god given right.

  Don't play into the politics of the ORG by giving them anything that they can play with. If you want to get married again, and you are aware that your X is living against the bible principles, that is enough. Let the X move on too.

  The congregation filing cabinet is overcrowded with such useless/unlawful/slanderous papers.
