Wow...we totally missed the handshake thing at our WT study. We just commented on the wordly association, and the brother blatantly bragging about it by showing off the photos on his IPhone.

There's gotta be another faction in the Writing Department, either that or they can't see the irony.
by Theocratic Sedition inthe past two week's worth of wt studies have made a couple points that appear contradictory in nature.
yesterday was too much, i felt at least.
either there's another faction within the writing department fighting for the equivalent of airtime in the literature, or they're all so indoctrinated that they fail to see the irony in what they publish.. for instance, take paragraph 5 from last week's lesson.. 5. unlike the law codes of many countries, "the perfect law" is neither complex nor burdensome but consists of simple commandements and principles.

University/Informing Elders/Elders Reactions/No longer pioneer

Good for you, So.
Nobody should be pioneering if it is a burden, or their heart isn't into it.
Guilt trips seem to be the only thing left that gets used to motivate people.
Be careful with that night club stuff, though.
All the best with your studies.

Jehovah does provide...thinking
by Quarterback ini spoke with a sister who pioneered over 30 yrs.. i felt sorry for her because she had lost her husband who was df'd over a decade.
she was only married for a brief time with him.. she dealt with this loss with the thinking that jehovah will provide her with a new husband, a house, and income for her security.
of course this would happen if a brother her age suddenly lost his wife and became a widow.

Service meeting topic: Masturbation
by perfect1 inone of my strangest memories of going to the kh was when a young- maybe 18-20, pimply young man got up to talk about jhvhs view of masturbation during a service meeting.. of course, it was impossible to think about him not masturbating.
i was just hitting puberty and found the whole thing very uncomfortable- i think my dad was even critiquing him (what is that called when elder gives the feedback).
looking back now i can see that to publicly condemn masturbation, especially when a young man is delivering this admonition, is- well- hilarious.

I must have missed this part....I don't remember it. But, I missed alot of meetings this summer.
I remember a Dr Oz show that was in favored of masturbation.
I think it is ok to Bait, but to become a Master at it is wrong.

"Suggested" Donation when attending Circuit Assembly
by BluesBrother ini could have called this "fee now charged to go to circuit assembly" but i do not want to start rumours that go beyond what was actually said.
the k hall announcement encouraged attendance at the upcoming assembly day.
the elder then said that since the congregation no longer has to make a blanket donation to the assembly hall it is expected that the publishers remember their responsibility to maintain the costs.

What frustrated me was the surplus of funds from each Circuit Assembly was automatically sent as a donation to the Society. This always made us start off with a deficit for the next convention. Then came the announcements...."Hello", "we have a deficit, you know. Keep standing up up until someone pays for it".

Quick question for recent convention attendees, did your hotel offer box lunches?
by Theocratic Sedition inour hotel did, and on the surface that's no big deal.
matter fact i think it's a good business move on the hotel's part and pretty darn good customer service.
after the song was finished and the chairman did his announcements initiating the noon break, i got to wondering if the wt had anything to do with these box lunches offered by the hotel.

Since body piercings are not allowed, wearing our badges with the swimsuit is out.

Interesting discussion with some Witnesses at my door today

i didn't even know which territory i am in.
i asked again what congregation and he told me.

I enjoyed your experience with this family. What I found interesting was that they didn't run away when you had mentioned your Bethel experience.
They chose to stay and listen to you, they shared their beliefs with you. It didn't end in a heated debate, just a disagreement.
Enjoy your new home, and territory.

What did you think of the new Bourne legacy movie?
by tootired2care ini just saw this movie last night and just loved it.
it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time.
what did you think of it, or what other cool movies have you seen in the last few months?.
-
Quarterback
It was an interesting twist and it still managed to maintain Jason Borne's(Matt Damian) charater within the story. I heard that Matt was taking a break from the Bourne series. A very good movie to watch for the summer.

It was/is a complication within the arrangement. There is no suggestion from the Society for solving it, just a spanking for making them look bad for people(s) desparation.
I prefer smaller DA's where you know the attendees, than the larger ones.
