  Vow of Obedience and Poverty? WTF??

  it got me to look at it closer and in the opening study they use terminology i've never heard used before namely, "vow of obedience and poverty".... 19 currently, there are some 67,000 members of the worldwide order of special full-time servants of jehovah’s witnesses.

  some perform bethel service, others engage in construction or in circuit work, serve as field instructors or special pioneers or missionaries or as assembly hall or bible school facility servants.

  Xmas / New Year - Time to Review Your Finances

  it's that time of the year again, when most people spend too much buying too much crap for people .... it's also a good time to take advantage of the few days off to look at your finances and make sure you're not being "gouged" by the big companies that, well, like to extract as much money from people as possible.. for us, one of the biggest culprits was telecoms.. think about it: years ago you just had to buy a tv and probably paid to have a phone line.

  nowadays you have cell phones for everyone in the family and a million and one tv channels (all showing crap or repeats of crap) and extra for movies and pay-per-view.

  you can easily be paying hundreds of dollars per month.. it can all add up, quickly.

  I used to purchase the old incandesent light bulbs because the newer LED bulbs were 3 times as much. Then I finally caved in, and bought my first LED bulb. I was sold with the fact that it would last 18 years, use only a fraction of energy of the old bulbs, and I didn't compromise on lifestyle.

  i watched this movie for the first time today and i noticed some disturbing similarities with the personalities of jws.

  the way they train their children and wives so they become robots to serve jehovah, but most importantly of all, to make their husbands and fathers look good and boost their egos.

  Canada Bethel (Georgetown) to begin renovations early 2017

  a letter was just read at my midweek meeting that georgetown (canada bethel) will have renovations done on it beginning spring 2017. the letter asked for publishers who are electricians/plumbers/etc.

  and in good standing to apply to help out.

  those helping out will be considered "part-time commuters" and will only be at the property for about 3 days a week and must reside outside of bethel and pay for all their own expenses.

  The Canadian Branch was always the Back up plan for Brooklyn, and Walkill. It publishes all the magazines for the whole world. It's not a bad idea to expand it bigger now that Trump is sitting on the Throne.
