JW directives you thought were downright stupid
by fallen_princess ini remember one time when i was about 17 years old, i wanted to arrange a costume party for the young brothers in the congo around my age.
i suggested it to one of my friends and was told that the elders had advised against it because it could be construed as pagan and masks have their roots in demonism.
of course, i was never shown any biblical proof of this but just that response took the wind out of my sails and i decided to just not go through with it.

Dying laughing here!
"counseling" regarding things that were "conscious matters", but revoking or withholding "priveleges" for making a decision contrary to what the elders advised.
I got DFd when I was pregnant with my first child. The reason for my DFing: because I was going to marry my then "worldly" boyfriend. The elders explained to me that the sin (of fornication) had already been committed, but that I could "prove" my repentance by NOT marrying an unbeliever. If I choose to marry him, against the counsel of the elders, then I would be disfellowshipped for not "submitting" to the Bible's "principle" of marrying "only in the lord". So, they DFd me. I stupidly got reinstated shortly after, but finally got my brain together and left for good 2.5 years ago.

@won'tleave..... so funny!!!
Fire them...but don't say you're firing them, say you're disfellowshipping them. You can't be sued by them for DFing, after all...it is allowed in their minds.

When I left, not a single elder or anyone else for that matter ever tried to contact me. And I was active in the hall. I don't even know if I'm DFd, but it doesn't matter one way or another to me, since it only means something if you believe in it.

Why are Pantsuits not appropriate according to The Watchtower?
by VM44 inwhy do the jws consider pansuits worm by women not appropriate attire?.
pantsuits are considered appropriate attire in the conservative business world.. secretary of state hilary clinton wears pantsuits quite often.. would pantsuits be considered appropriate for a visit to bethel?
if someone showed up at bethel wearing them, would be be asked to leave?.

Whenever I want to be sure that I'm looking very conservative, I wear dressy pants. When I want to look sexy, I wear a skirt or dress.
Skirts are much more revealing than pants...but, you know, this is a crazy cult so whatever they say makes sense makes sense (unless you actually think about it).

To EP...Your letter brought tears to my eyes...how i WISH my own family could read this, but of course, they never will "commit the unforgiveable sin".
