  Saeth... you are not wrong in that individuals can be df or da for openly associated with a df or da person. I would question you as to what you mean by "force"? The company is telling and individual... if you want to be a member you have to shun... So an individual has to say "i want to be a member therefore I am making the choice to shun this person" If they CHOOSE to shun then they have made a value judgement for themselves that being a member is more important than contact with the person who is to be shunned.

  Continuing to place blame on a group when the responsibility belongs to the individual for making their own value judgement just seems pointless.

  Your mother/father/sister/brother is making a value judgement that being a part of the group is more important than their relationship with you.

  If an individual values being a member of the jehovahs witnesses organization, shunning is a required in various degrees. My mother is a jdub who chooses to define shunning loosely.

  This is the important part, that all of us do well to understand for our own benefit sooner rather than later..... Shunning is a choice made by individual jdubs that has a specific set of consequences. Choosing not to shun is also a choice made by individual jdubs that has a specific set of consequences.

  If your family is shunning you it is because they value being a member of the group more then they value you as a person. They are not being forced to shun you, they are choosing to shun you.

  There is enough shit in this world. Choose to divorce yourself from cancerous people wherever and whoever they are.

  Women's March on Washington

  my support is with the marchers in washington and around the country today.

  i was raised through my formative years by my mother and sister while my father was out of the picture.

  they gave me the compassion i have today.

  What is being taken away from women? It seems to me that the good ol usa is a country that the world can look to for an example of what women can do/become. Housewife, executive, proffessional athlete, hell women can even be clergy now!! Next thing you know we will have women in the most prestigious schools in the nation and then we will have them running for president!

  What is being taken away from minorities? Trump wants to seriously look at the problems in immigration, the problem of millions of illegals and a long hard look at immigrants from islamic countries? Shouldnt we already be doing that?

  Of the ten or so jobs I have had in my short life from telecommunications to the fire service, women made/make the same as me. It is up to all workers to demand that they are paid what they are worth, through unions or bargaining directly with their employer or starting their own business.

  That being said.... March on if thats what floats your boat!!

  May America be blessed by the one and only true god, allah

  7th Day Adventist growth/decline stats similar to JWs

  the sda's are also getting most of their growth in africa and latin america but plateauing or declining in europe and parts of the western world.. what's also interesting is the sda leadership fronts up and attempts to explain why there is decline in some areas of the world (albeit somewhat disingenously), eg, on the link below from 2014. but the watchtower leaders have never tried to give any explanation for why membership is dramatically falling away in the western world.

  I went to a "journey to bethlehem" production put on by the Adventists for christmas last year at a farm near my house. Dubs are decendants of the adventists and their chronology is very similar. As I was listening to the dopes dressed up as the three wise men talknig about the end time prophesiec and the moon being in the lower left hand quadrant I though I was back in the kingdom hall. They are in fact hoping... waiting for the end of the world very, very soon, right around the corner, any day now which is to say imminently.

  Talk to almost any gay person who had to go through growing up gay. Almost to a person they are near the view that they would not have chosen to go through what they were forced to by the viewpoint of good christians.

  Having my high school age children talking about their friend william, dating deshawn now makes me feel a) incredibly proud of my kids, b) happy that it is much easier for these kids to grow up normal and c) acutely aware of the negative way I thought about gay people while still in the church.

  I dont understand the "trump is a puppet" comments. Almost all his detractors keep talking about all the stupid shit he says and how he continues to shoot from the hip. His speech was too dark, he didnt reach across to those who didnt vote for him. blah. blah. blah. If there is one thing Trump is, he is his own man.

  He is not looking for wwIII. He is surrounding himself with doubters and outsiders (very wealthy outsiders but outsiders nontheless) They are do'ers not talkers. He is going to treat the government like a psuedo-business. Time will tell whether that is a proper outlook or not. If its not, he has enemies on both sides of the isle to make him a one term lame duck prez.

  You can take the endtimes man out of the cult but you cant take the doomsday out of the man.

  Is it just me ? 2 threads debating page after page with one individual ?

  is it just me who doesnt see the point of this ?

  from time to time we see some individual who takes up page after page arguing his or her point of view and it usually ends up with only 2 or 3 individuals who keep the talkfest going with a particular individual and nobodys getting anything out of it .. why bother ?

  why get sucked in to such a pointless dialogue ?

  I agree w/ outlaw... Those posts can play a critical role for lurkers who dont quite have the courage to start posting or asking questions themselves. When I was a lurker for my first few months here, those are the posts that I read from the 1st to the last page. They give all the superficial answers that I already had to "tough" questions. Questions that are blown away by the extremely well thought out and pointed answers of our fellow posters. I dont care if the questions are genuine or just trolls but they help out the still afraid and "fading" class of jw doubters.

  I personally dont need or read all of them anymore but many new / lurkers do. Posters like "standfirm", "a beleiver" do a great service to our members and future members.
