so here's my question as a newly daed person that is summarily shunned.
do you hide from family and act like you don't exist or do you let them know you're still here and seek them out?
they want you to be dead, like you no longer exist, because strict avoidance makes it easier on them.
Do not allow their actions to change yours. If you are compelled by your own personal desire to include them in cards/anniversary and such then do that, if you are not compelled, do not.
Guess what? Its your life now, you can live by the dictates of YOUR conscience.... no one elses.

i'm reaching out here, i've known ttatt for about 3-4 years now.
sadly when i first grasped it i had a total mental breakdown as i was a hard core firm to the core pioneer and 110% believer of my faith.!
now nearly 2years on after my breakdown i still have to attend to please my jw wife.
I am a firm believer that to keep on doing something that goes against your conscience, you are damaging your own mental health. We have all done it. You have no judgement from me. There are a million reasons why you should just suck it up for your wifes sake but you WILL damage yourself in the process. Be true to yourself and let the cards fall where they may.

i was feeling particularly hopeless about the whole jws being assholes thing and sick to death of pretending so ....
i rang my sister and told her that i no longer believe jws have the truth and the phone went silent, when i asked her to say something she just said if that was the case then she would have to hang up on me and then proceeded to indeed hang up..
so i texted her back immediately with fu..
All I can do is speak and live the truth of who I am
I don't need the JW's permission to be me, all I needed was to give myself permission
Once you realize the above comments and really KNOW them to be true... The world opens up in spectacular ways for you!
If you really have to fade, then I guess fade but you WILL be locked in a closet. Just remember though that the closet is locked from the inside.

i'm sick of.... ...having an elder i barely know invite himself over to my house, and bring another asshole elder with him, you know, to "see how i'm doing" f-ck them.
...having same elder with all insincerity approach me at the beeting and before inviting himself over, ask, "how are you doing?
" then when i say everything is great, go ahead and invite them selves over anyway.

I read an awesome quote by Dan Savage about a week ago. He was writing to a female who had some type of unusual fetish and was scared of coming out of the closet. He told her that she needed to own who she was and the great thing about being locked in the closet is that it is locked from the inside and you can come out whenever YOU want to.
My feelings on fading notwithstanding, I hope you find the strength you need to move forward with your life.

i'm sitting here drinking my morning coffee and opened up the yahoo page to see jw's trending at #10. clicked on it and the first article is about the child abuse.. did something happen lately that would get so many people doing a massive search?.
i can hear witnesses the world over saying... we do not belong to a "church"
the talk was bs.speaker used an example of how god provides some 60 pounds of fish per week to some bird.in that case god does not care about the life of fish.who will provide my daily rations?
can i go to a store and take my food?

due to some recent developments i find myself in a new place, and at this point i've lost all of my family and fri....oh that's right, i never really had any friends in the organization anyway.
just people that wanted something from me and a few people that i would invite to do things that occasionally said yes.
the recent rejections of me got me thinking, so let's take a rejection inventory.. i had to reject all of the holidays when my parents started studying.. i had to reject any worldly friends that i already had.. even family became rejected, and the new religion had some place in that.. i was rejected in school and bullied all of the time, not just because we were poor and i made good grades, but for jw reasons too.
You got out with your wife!!!! Congrats!!!
Get out and enjoy your new found freedom! Go to a new church... or ... don't go to church. Have a cigar, go back to school, get a tattoo, register to vote, give blood, volunteer, skydive, and go to a VFW and have a few beers with some great people. Reconnect with the people you rejected.
The above is such a small list of the OPPORTUNITIES you now have at your disposal. So much of what life has to offer has now been opened for you!
