Immerse yourself in the real life.... as you are aware it is difficult losing friends that you have had your entire life. Join a club or another mainstream church or just go out w/ work friends and put yourself out there as soon as possible. Talking to many different people in real life will help you cope with this colossal change in your life.
You woke up. It is what it is. You cannot go back to sleep. I was a 30 year born in. Its diff but it gets better!

"Stumbling" and Wussification.
by schnell inthis really annoyed me towards the end.
the watchtower doesn't do its members any favors by frequently warning about stumbling and offending each other.
it's no surprise that this becomes a cult control tactic where you can't even groom yourself the way you want because it might be "cause for stumbling".. with so much emphasis, it became wussification and contributed to the toxic environment of jehovah's witnesses.

the other day a brother, who was once friends with my husband, and a substitute circuit overseer stopped in my husband's work for a shepherding visit if they still call it that.

When you fade, you willfully stay within the system of the dubs. You certainly have a diminished presence at the hall but make no mistake you are still a part of the system... You are still not making waves, still trying to make nice with everyone, still "waiting on jehovah" to change the stance on "inactive, df and da'd ones" All these things are expertly instilled in you at a very young age as a jdub and as a fader you are applying them flawlessly.
Fading does not make you a good or bad person, it just makes you not true to yourself.

by poopie inthe question is can her mother and father who are witnesses greet her in the morning only or would they be a sharer in her wicked deeds and thus also be df for saying a greeting?.

Born ins are fucked from the get go matter what happens.
The child has made the very adult decision to dedicate her life to god. If the child was mature enough to take control of her spiritual life then the parents can fuck off and not give her any more advice on spiritual matters. Bonus... No other fucktard at the hall can personally indoctrinate her any more either.
Tough road for this child but if you are born in there is no other road to take. Thanks a lot mom and dad. Dont be these parents!! GTFO

Not only is it "no suprise" but it is in fact "by design" A design that is EXCEPTIONAL at indoctrinating children. So exceptional that even if you are not a die hard witness and dont push it on your kids, just by going to meetings your children are being expertly indoctrinated.
Get your self and especially your children out of this organization!!

Leaving the jws is a "lifestyle choice" according to a counsellor
by purrpurr inso i had my first appointment with a counsellor, of course i explained about being a born in jw, mentally leaving, the penalty of doing so and therefore the mental strain of pretending to be someone i'm not.
her response was that she couldn't help me with that because leaving a cult was a "lifestyle choice".
i tried to say to her that its a cult not a religion and how it brain washed me but no.

If you decide to leave then you decide to leave. If you decide to stay then you decide to stay. You most likely do not need assistance making that decision.
You need help in making sense of your family ACTIVELY making the decision to sever contact. That is what the difficult part is for us born ins. You can say its not a lifestyle choice if you want but your choice of being a free person has nothing to do with their choice of shunning people that dont agree with them. They have made their decision and are being true to themselves. You can get help in trying to make sense of it all but make no mistake about this..... Your family and friends are cutting you off if you choose to leave, not you. YOU are not doing that. It seems like you already understand that they will cut you off but you dont want to accept it.
Simply put, you have to come to terms with the consequences of either action and the very real stress that will come with either decision. Now you just have to deal with those consequences. Therapy, friends and this board are all good outlets to help you figure that out.

My Dad wants to study with me
by BlackWolf inso my parents continue to pester me about getting baptized.
the other day my dad told me that i was old enough to make a decision, and was wondering why i wasn't ready (assembly is in a few weeks) so i told him calmly that i have many doubts and if i were to get baptized it has to be 100 percent my idea.
he was a little annoyed by this, and now wants to study the "is there a creator that cares about you" book (which is complete bs) with me.
