  i put this under the "scandal" section because it is both a scandal how the wtbts can flaunt its evil hypocrisy and an even bigger scandal that the u.n. and governments in general turn a blind eye to the treatment inflicted on anyone who questions or challenges the org's teachings and practices.

  The dubs certainly do not support your changing religion but they sure as fuck allow it. They have no other choice. I seem to remember very clearly being able to leave of my own free will when I wanted to. (I was born-in)

  Dubs respect your right to leave. What else can they do? Stop you from leaving? The problem is you do not respect their right to not talk to you if they do not want to. I understand first hand what this implies, but make no mistake.... NO ONE has to talk to you if they do not want to.

  When they violate the law, ie... the blood issue and children.. then prosecute them. But freedom of speech and freedom of religion allow for people to choose fucked up religions. Such is life.

  as a witness i always found a way to not have to embarrass myself by sitting down for the national anthem.. i’m curious.

  how many of you stood up for the patriotic song?.

  You stand out of respect for the ideals that the flag stands for. I was a born in but stood out of respect.

  Kneeling or sitting is a perfect example of freedom of speech but make no mistake it is disrespectful to do so.

  i have a 'financial advisor' email tell of massive changes coming to us (and thereby world currencies) on the above date.. does 13-dec 2017 mean anything to anyone.?.

  he is talking about the removal of cash etc now if this is half way correct where does it leave the money machine of the wt?.

  Shunning Unbiblical

  the word shunning is an old english word which has not history pre 18th century.

  the practice of avoiding, hiding,ignore or reject was used in the bible against another according to the law.

  the law was still in force up until the consumation of the age when jerusalem, the temple, the old covenants were all destroyed forever and when the messiah came back for his elect with the resurrected at the same time.

  Check out the January 8th 1947 Awake magazine where the orgs very own publication talks about how excommunicating / shunning has pagan origins.

  When I was first waking up, this was a powerful article to read, if only because of the flip flop nature of the society's policies.

  i've picked up from several replies to posts here that the org has stopped using the term "worldly" as it applies to people.

  this must have happened after i left.

  would someone be so kind as to explain the "rationale" behind this shift?

  While in family court with my ex in the past year I used "worldly" when referring to my children's friends (somewhat mockingly) and my ex was openly agitated and said "we do not use that term.

  I got out in 2010 and it was used by everyone I know.

  i would like to remind those folks younger than i that it was very few years ago when almost the entire planet earth was run by and for the benefit of men.women have throughout history been the property of men.due to religious restrictions, teachings, and fundamentalist doctrines, women in the largest societies on earth right now (muslim, chinese, n.korean) have almost no human rights at all.next year, in june, women will, for the 1st time, be allowed in arabia to drive---but--only if they are 30 years old or older, and for only a few hours per day!the old testament laws (read through them sometime) are horrifying reflective of prejudice toward gender, bodily cleanliness, guilt-tripping, and anonymity.

  There are pigs everywhere. Men and women. Just like there are racists everywhere.

  Things are said to me almost weekly by women that if the table was turned and I said them about women I would be fired yesterday. As with anything else in life, If you do not like things that are said to you then it is up to you to fight for yourself. You cannot count on anyone else to do it for you.

  If Harvey told a 20 year old woman that she had to sleep with him to get the job then he is taking advantage of his position. The 20 year old is free to say "fuck it" and walk away, she is also free to take him up on his proposition. It makes him sleezy, it makes him an opportunist. It also makes the female an opportunist. If she later regrets it, then she regrets it. Experience is an effective teacher.

  I should say I have only heard that Harvey preyed upon young adult women. If he did something illegal he goes from douche bag to criminal.

  Why I constantly write letters to the Watchtower Society

  hi all.. for many years now, i have been writing letters to bethel in new york and london.

  i have also written to the charity commission, the bbc and more to highlight the harmful teachings and policies of the watchtower society.

  i realise that some may view this as futile and understand why they might feel this way,; especially considering the pharisaical stonewall-like attitude displayed by the leadership of watchtower.. some reasons i do so is because i feel that constructive criticism is essential in helping to bring about change.

  It is absolutely NOT a waste of time. Just because a letter will most likely not get many out, that does not have to be the main point of letter writing. Your conscience is telling you to write and following your conscience is NEVER a waste of time.

  If these cow eyed adults do not care to read your letters then fuck 'em. Every letter, every good natured hello to a dub from an ex/apostate, every sip of wine that is taken at the memorial is a chance to be a brick out of the wall in the minds of someone. You never know who that someone is but this message board is living proof that we have been, we are and we will continue to be woken up every day.

  No two people are the same and people wake up in different ways for different reasons. Do whatever you think helps sans violence.

  My friend the 'Super-Dub.'

  i speak semi-regularly to an old friend of mine who i would describe as a super-dub.. he knows i am inactive but over the years i have peppered him with a lot of questions about the org.

  that i hoped would make him at least pause and think somewhat rationally about the reality of being a jw in this brave new- post gb 2.0 world.. we have discussed everything from the generation changes, to the u.n. , failed prophecy, flip flops, the reduction in size of the wt magazine, the closing/ consolidation of bethels including lay-offs, jw broadcasting, cart witnessing- etc, etc.. what do i mean by super-dub?

  he is a born-in, has missionary parents, he reg.

  Maybe thats how you start the conversation then...

  Why do you worship the gb and do whatever they say? Then when they give you the answer about how they do not follow or worship the gb, go into all the other things you talk about.

  Make them disprove your initial question in whatever way they choose and then go into all the issue that prove they are full of contradictions.

  At the end of the day, they will not tear down the wall until they want to but until then... every. brick. helps.
