A week without field service makes you weak! Anybody remember that?
by Bonnie_Clyde ini remember an assembly--maybe 30 years ago--and it was stated over and over again in one of the assembly parts.
i suppose we should avoid association with someone who hasn't been out in service for a "week" or we will also become "weak.

Ridiculous elder ideas and rules
by Juan Viejo2 inin an earlier thread, i went off topic for a moment to share excerpts from an email i received from an active sister living in the midwest usa.
she mentioned that the elders in her congregations were extremely conservative and criticized the flock for using certain colors of highlighters in their magazines.
she also reported that they were all over the sisters for wearing stylish boots or tennis shoes during the winter months.. i know that some elder groups can be very liberal, supportive and loving toward their flocks - while others are exactly opposite to the point that they become overbearing and oppressive.. what have you experienced as far as ridiculous, over-the-top rules and ideas enforced by local elders?.

A sister may NEVER correct a brother. And I mean NEVER.
In fact, this is not an elder rule per se. It was clearly stated in one of the WTS publications (I think it was in one of the monthly 4 pages leaflets used at the meeting after the ministry school - I forgot their name, somewhere in 2009) that sisters were not allowed at all to correct a brother who used a wrong word, or who made a grammar or spelling error while reading or commenting a paragraph. A male who was not the school overseer or who was not an elder or MS could correct the error in a respectful manner, if there would be something to be gained from that (if there is an important, relevant error). The same was to be applied in case of erroneus use of information.
It's just a small step from expanding this rule to every aspect of JW life.

WHY IT IS WRONG FOR ELDERS, MINISTERIAL SERVANTS AND PIONEERS TO SOCIALIZE WITH THE WEAK ONES!
by AvocadoJake inthere is a sister in our hall who has made it clear why her "jehovah" does not like weak ones.
her husband the po, will refuse to work with those who are not getting ten hours or more a month.
the weak ones "are spiritually dangerous and will bring you down.

I'm weak enough, spiritually, to bring down 10 strong sheep! I listen to Gothic and Death Metal, I watch horror movies and porn, I own at least one 2-doors car, I am commiting fornication and I am an Ateist. The only way to beat me is by someone who, apart from these things, has at least one tatoo.

Effects of the Evolution Theory
by mankkeli ineffects of the evolution theory.
in the early 19th century, religion and science enjoyed a fairly amicable relationship.
just two years before the origin of species was published, biologist and harvard professor louis agassiz wrote that the living world shows premeditation, wisdom, greatness and that a major purpose of natural history was to analyze the thoughts of the creator of the universe.. agassiz viewpoint was not uncommon.

Mankkeli and Larsinger on the same topic! We are blessed!
Anyway, Mankkeli seems to be paid by some neo-protestant group to spamm our forum with stupid topics. He fails to realize that many wars had and have a strong religious background. Even some of the examples given by him fall into this category: Serbia is orthodox, Croatia is catholic and Bosnia and Kossovo are mainly muslim. This has nothing to do with evolution and it's concepts. Extrapolating a biology set of rules into a mindset of a given human group is stupid: people are not violent because they realized that nature asks that of them! The majority of the planet don't even know who was C. Darwin! I bet my car on that! Just put a machinegun in the hands of a religious zealot and he will go kill someone, like a good little robot.

How did plants survive the Flood?
by dgp innoah is not said to have carried plants in his ark.
supposedly the flood was severe enough to cover "even the tallest mountains", which would mean that mount everest was covered.
and this for forty days.

Repent because God's Kingdom has drawn close!
by Kosonen inhere on this forum there are so many sinners, many here are doing things that will bring god's wrath upon themselves.
consider yourself if you in some aspect fit the description in romans 1:28-32:.
and just as they did not approve of holding god in accurate knowledge, god gave them up to a disapproved mental state, to do the things not fitting, filled as they were with all unrighteousness, wickedness, covetousness, badness, being full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malicious disposition, being whisperers, backbiters, haters of god, insolent, haughty, self-assuming, inventors of injurious things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, false to agreements, having no natural affection, merciless.

Is the effect of beer different from that of wine?
by compound complex indear drinkers:.
beer buzzes me but wine does not speak to me .... can you speak from personal experience?.

Red wine has tannins which raise the blood pressure. That is why it's not for everyone. Beer is weaker, but it will make you fat on the long term. White wine is a nice compromise between them.
