Young adults who are disfellowshipped/disassociated and houselessness?
by Aaron Eldridge ini was wondering if anyone knew of any individuals that became houseless when they were disfellowshipped or disassociated themselves.
i know that i had to move out of my house within a few months after i disassociated myself, but i believe that if i did not have anywhere to go my parents would not have kicked me out of the house.. .

I couldn't agree more. I had some former JW friends and family interfere with my life and gloat about my failures.
Now with no driver's license, job, or college degree, and friends ... I'm now their "bad example" of what would happen when you leave the borg.
But I'm still not going back, I'd rather be a "failing loser" in the world than a "failing loser" in the borg, lol.

Not really, the only one that I liked was the nature one from 2007.
I once visited a KH where they framed the calendar pictures from 2006 and hanged them in the entrance.

I'm guilty of this...and still fighting it.
It wasn't exactly "encouraging" when i get compared to other dubs and even bible studies.
The borg is amazing at destroying self-esteem.

An educated persons perception of the watchtower magazine
by Aussie Oz inthe other day (australia day bbq actually) i somehhow got to discussing jws with some of my wifes extended family.
one of them, quite well educated and academic mentioned she was given a wt (no awake to go with it) when they called.. she commented that as she read some of it, it struck her how it was going on about pedaphiles and homosexuals a lot and secondly how every thing they said was not backed up by any legitimate research nor data, just random % this or that to support the flimsy arguments.. her comment was that this was the most un-academic, poorly written journal she had ever read and without going any further, threw it in the trash!.
the sheeple migh lap up the recycled vomit in that rag, but the public aint fooled.. the family laughed heartily when i informed them of the jw belief that the wt and awake!

Reminds of me of the time I tried to place those scientific themed rags with my high school biology teacher.
He pointed out some of the flaws in the articles.
Another teacher told me to stop using the WT and AW for my works cited list, because they're not reputable sources.

Do you miss "dressing up" for the meetings?
by dozy ini was thinking about this the other day when doing a bit of tidying up of my wardrobe.
all the kh suits are now pushed to the back of the wardrobe and i am seriously thinking about a visit to the charity shop to get rid of most of them.. for me one of the (few) enjoyable aspects of being a jw was getting dressed up.
my secular work very rarely involves putting on a dress suit & tie so i miss getting dressed up - smart suit , tie , shiny shoes , slapping on the aftershave.
