for me .... 1).
last district convention after having 'read up' (took some family to it).. 2).
last 'meeting' to watch step-father-in-law finally get his and get disfellowshipped for molestation.. ...both were taking vodka shots in the bathroom.. i'm sure there's lots of good stories out there..

in most healthy societies people are allowed to do naughty things without feelings of guilt.. .
what naughty things can jws do?.
my naughtiest moment was rounding up 55mins to an hr in my ministry!
For those with low christian standards
In extreme cases caress your spouses breasts.

how did you explain it to them?
how did they react?
.
Yes, I did. I was telling that JW look forward this order of things going down and don't think they should use any extra effort to learn new things in the current system. All they (we) need to learn for life in paradise is taught within the religion.
They were like OK sounds logical if you believe that way.

i believe that if a non regular meeting attender shows up for at least the memorial "celebration", it's a sign, that possibly, the person is saveable.
not all hope is lost for them.. i heard that last year, the rumour was that i was going to show up and sit with my mother....(of course, that never happened).. so, if you attended or if your family member or wayward friend showed up, they might have a chance for everlasting (earthly) life, after all!.
We were told in several occasions (speech, CO visit, assemblies) that as witnesses were (back then) over 6 millions the attendant count in memorial showed the true immediate potential. It would have been about the double amount witnesses if all those in memorial audience could be converted (sorry that word was forbidden). If they cared so much that they attended memorial it shouldn't be that difficult to encourage them to other meetings too.
I think that was very easy way to tell the people that we are going to right direction, look what we could achieve if we just would do even more and better. If memorial attendance would have been the same as in regular meeting it could have led people thinking what is the point.
The eager interested ones you could attract to regular meetings, but only other occasions where you could show your interested studies or magazine routes physically were actually memorial and assemblies in some extent.

Have you heard about the steps those trying to reach soberness take for example in AA. The first step is always the most significant. The same applies here.

i thought of one that happened to me, i think i was 16 and regular pioneering at the time.
i was in fs with my friend, i think she had to be about 18, and we were in a van with older married sisters, my friend and i were the only single ones.
there were 6 of us in this van and my friend and i of course were forced to sit in the back (meaning we couldn't escape by jumping out of a moving van), anyway, the conversation turned to discussing molestation.. the two oldest sisters sitting in the front then started going into detail about how they had been molested, and it wasn't just "i was molested by..." no they went into detail.. i was shocked!

i've read a few people mention making up the figures for the field service reports, and i want to find out how common it is.
i never lied on my report.
sometimes i'd round up 15 minutes if i'd mentioned jw stuff to my brother that month, but that wasn't falsifying.
I did, until I realised I was only kidding myself.

i had a random thought this morning about clapping.
growing up in the wt culture i learned the proper protocol for clapping.
before the assembly speaker gave his talk, but not after.
I don't find this practise weird at all. Programmed clapping gives structure and certain worthiness to shows and spectacles. Any of you seen what happens in Chinese and North-Korean party congresses? How spontanious is clapping in American, German or Italian talk-shows, as far as I know they are equipped with huge applause signs that are lid at pre-programmed points. Or again been watching teen movies, there is always that magical moment after which one kid starts "spontanious" clapping, and how weird was that in Another Teen Movie when he could not get his timing right.
Clapping seems to be significant human signal, but how often it is really spontanious? Very seldom is my guess. Meetings and assemblies are shows and spectacles in same manner as any other show, and clapping just belongs there, at proper, often pre-designed, time.

yep, you can face a judicial committee if you try to kill yourself.

so i missed this letter below being read out last week - i got a look at it from the notice board this week.. from what i heard, this announcement was not received entirely positively as such, but there were apparently one or two for who this is a bit annoying.. staying at hotels for the district convention is nothing new here - many are used to staying at the same hotel/b&b/campsite every year, and get quite friendly with the owners.
but this year, it looks like not only do we have a new location for our district assembly (glasgow - the s.e.c.c.?
) but we are being told what hotel to stay at, supposedly to make things cheaper.. what i can't understand is, if this is really for the benefit of people, why didn't they do this years ago?
Expect for the concept of free-rooms-bulk that simply must be baked in it's really about this issue
Providing support for better negotiations in the future
If you promise year after year and fail in the end they do not believe you anymore. For most of the hotels this is also difficult to track. It is not different to corporate deals. If you book with your corporate price, they can count your stay in reports because most of the time only indicator in their PMS system about corporate affiliation is the price type. If you find better/cheaper fare in the very same hotel, the hotel is unable to track you as that corporates traveller, eventhough you made your trip for business. Same here, if you book outside the arrangement and do not mention the group/agreement code, for the hotel it is equal that you did not attend that group event. Seen too many report mismatches between corporate recorded stays in specific hotels compared to what hotels are telling.
