today's wt lesson: serving jehovah with all seriousness, excerpt from paragraph 11:.
"if a brother has been baptized at least one year and to a reasonable degree meets the scriptural qualifications for ministerial servants outlined at 1 timothy 3:8-13, he can be recommended for appointment.".
how often have you seen someone become a ministerial servant one year after baptism?
This all sounds so cool.
I always wanted to retain my originality and edges, so never ever even dreamt of reaching for privileges. That I decided already as teen. It worked well I was left alone except for one occassion where they mentioned considering me. I cut the consideration and asked them not to think in those paths. Aah the peace.

yesterday, out of 4,035 people in attendance at the dc, only 12 people were baptized.
that is one more than eleventeen and one less than a baker's dozen.. .
want to take a guess as to the age group of this 'great crowd?
In last years in my former circuit the CA/SAD had no baptisees in two cases of three for some years. Speaker always announced that it looks like we do not have anyone going to get baptised, but the speech will still be of great benefit to all of us, specially for them who are considering to get baptised later. It was indeed benefitial, the lunchbreak started some five minutes earlier.

no looking up jws on the internet first?
and uses a phone book, who even owns a phone book anymore?.
here is the an "experience" from pg 7 of the august 2011 awake.. my teenage years were a blur of alcohol,.
Interesting though that as far as I remember this is a first notification where rock is seen in positive light, she is referring easy rock as something she enjoys. I have hard time thinking that back then when easy rock was invented it would have been written as agreeable music. So much for standards that stay the tooth of time.

Well my maths tell that this crabbing of phonebook happened seven years ago. I have no problem relating to reading phonebook back then.

what does it matter?
i belive its been found that the romans used both, so what does it matter?.
what does it matter that the roman word for cross sounds also like a word for another god?.
It seems to have great significance to some. I think it's related to wide-spread usage of cross as symbol for christians. It's symbol on churches and people use it as jewelry among others. If the tree was cross there is relation to why this symbol could be used and the declaring it pagan symbol would lose ground. One way of proving you are right is the prove others are wrong, "there, you see, they even use pagan symbol to describe themselves, how low can they go", kind of logic. Those fake-christians use pagan sign as their most significant symbol, they are so evil and drifted away from true religion, right. It sounds less convincing when you must state that for some reason they want to use the murderweapon as their symbol, but it really was there and is related to death of Jesus.
Semantics, I would say from my point of view, but the devil lies in nuances.

i remember being a high school senior and wanting to go to prom ( i graduated from high school in 2003 ), but prom was forbidden when your a jw teen.
i even said to my parents if i took a witness girl would it be ok; they actually said yes.
i found a girl ( yes she's a witness ) to go with me, but here's the kicker she agreed to go.
Undercover's words brought some delightful memories in my mind. Thank you for that.
I just loved our nerdy chemistry and physics club at school, it was one of the highlights of the week, and no, meetings did not fit to that list.

We have similar event here in my lilliput country, very much like US prom dance. My family tried their best to convince me to go there, but I had other plans, I could with good reason escape from school and ski one more day, as there was no real studies going on that day. I wasn't really that much for partying and dancing in those days (full-scale nerd), but I still get reminded by my family that I escaped against their will. Here it is not seen as bad thing by most JW families to participate in school traditions as such, post-parties might be seen in other light.
Ofcourse you have already shown your true colour by choosing high school education in stead of vocational studies.

i have a few questions regarding moving and changing congs.
i would love to hear from former elders.. .
my wife and i will be moving soon, and as i described in an earlier post we will be using the move as an opportunity to fade.
Could someone please explain why there would be need to visit the "new" congregation. What would happen if you ask your current secretary send your cards to some congregation anywhere in the world and just never appear there. Would they send the cards back to "old" congregation after a while?

a big part of every memorial i ever went to was given to drumming it home that unless you were anoited you couldn't partake.
and everyone would be watching the "strangers" as their turn came, ripples of horror would go round the congregation if they dared to nibble or sip(!).
... but seriously what is the problem?
I can't refer it to anywhere in Bible, most probably there is no such relation. But as I understood the severity of this issue in JW context was based on the idea that partaking is lead by the understanding of partakers position given by the holy spirit. Any other person touching those emblems would be in risk of offending the holy spirit as this understanding of their anointed status was not given. The bad and dangerous thing here was actually the fact that as holy spirit is not a person, it cannot forgive you in any possible manner, thus potentially subjecting any unworthy partaker to already been irrevocably judged.
This is more or less the lesson I was given.
