Milk was my favorite with meals served back then. As younger Sprite and Coca-Cola too, they were available with your coupons. Then slightly older I enjoyed the beer that was available in conventions.

coming off a topic that terry started recently concerning what if j rutherford never grabbed a hold of the wts.
corporation.. i thought it might be interesting to accumulate a list of things that would never have happened due to the wts/jws .
existence and expansion over the years.
I would never had met my wife

can someone please explain this to me: gas money, handing out endless amounts of publications, magazines, tracks, etc.
why can't get some of this money back, tax write off, etc?
why can't this happen?
They actually used to, in those times when literature was sold against fixed price. If I recall this right they got their literature with 50% discount and could keep the difference. Also they were rewarded with substantial amount of food/refreshement coupons in conventions, again in those times when things were sold against fixed price.

here is a (transcribed) letter that all elders received regarding the elder school of 2012. the emphasis is not mine.. this letter is your invitation to attend the school for congregation elders at the location and dates shown below:.
please acknowledge receipt and acceptance of this invitation by completing and returning the enclosed confirmation form to the school for congregation elders desk using the enclosed pre-addressed envelope.
this should be returned no more than two weeks after receipt of this letter.
Funny, they forgot to remind all the elders to keep their lapel cards visible in public outside the schoolhours as "witness to nations", whatever they might be doing then.

i recently viewed the debutante event of my greatniece.. a beautiful ceremony, of course she was not a jw.. my grand daughters (jws), i think about what would.
be wrong if they participated in such a event.
introduction to society.. .
I know some JW kids that participated in such Debutant Ball based on their family's high social status, noblesse oblige kind of thing. I did not hear any bad comments about that.
But re-reading the upper stories tells me this is kind of the same but not really. This ball is really for noblesse and high ranking families based on their power in society only, but has no relation to success in school as it seems in US.

the co is at my husbands hall this week so i tied in to the meeting he was going on and on about how there are 140 elders in the circuit and only 80 something ms's.
of the elders 25 are over 75 years old.
of the ms's it was about 20 are over 75 years old.
I think one factor here are the wives. It was considered as great honor to have MS or elder husband, so they did everything necessary to encourage their lazy husbands to reach for those positions. Nowadays I would guess it is more appreciated to have certain amount of trips abroad and acceptable standard of living, so today they encourage their husbands to achieve those goals first and the spiritual ones then if more energy is left.
You know by nature we men are little bit lazy and like rolling the responsibility to our wives (consider the things Adam told about his wife).

in the book mankind's search for god, the wt says the following:.
the oldest portion of the bible predates all of the world's other religious writings.
- chapter 1, paragraph 27.. .
Well, if I recall this right, this statement was based on assumption where Moses had access to written records describing those early days of humanity. Records were written by people who had experienced most of it. My memory might trick me but as far as I remember it was clearly accepted that Moses was collecting the data from other sources concerning times before him. Of course those records Moses had access to are gone for a long time ago, as God had no reason to store them as he stored Bible to future generations.
Using fuzzy logic you get from here for JW acceptable statement that oldest part of Bible predates other scripts, not because it was actually written prior to them, but because scripts older than other religious books were used as reference material when Bible was written. Ofcourse it was impossible to write religious books before mankind appeared on earth and what comes to cave paintings, they are ofcourse dated wrong as conditions changed dramatically in flood

did anyone happen to hear this talk?
ours was given by a southern circuit overseer.
it was really a "whoa team!
It sounds like he has been to some rock/pop concert. "I can't hear you"

did anyone else notice that they didn't read an accounts report one single time?
usually, this is read at some point, i thought.
i'm usually too busy working on some assignment during the convention to notice but this year i was in my seat for the whole program.
I don't recall reading of the account status in DC, in CC it was usual. But my memory might play me a trick here too.

"not interested" isn't really a df'ing thing so much as a da'ing in absentia (sort of the same, regardless, because of the way it's announced).
but you didn't send it to an elder... just a friend.. i dunno, it's kind of a gray area, imo.
You didn't follow their rules, remember he asked you to send a letter, e-mail won't do.
