What is your fondest/or not memory of cargroup ...
by ofcmad inthe compassionate toliet thread brought this frightening memory to mind.... the field service assignments!.
did you all have the same feeling of dread of being stuck with a particular person.. knowing that you would have to listen to their dribble throughout the day.. or listening to that poor sister's sinus condition where she would make that, for lack of a better way to describe it, hock-a-luegy sound with her nasal passages every 10 minutes.
then lets not forget the positive side.. how you wished with glee, and finally got to work with the car group that would goof off half of the day and the other day go to not-at-homes that would definitely still be not-at-homes.. *************************************.

When I was younger I thoroughly enjoyed going out in service overall. But as a young adult, I absolutely hated it.
I spent most of my time feeling left out because none of the "popular" people would invite me into their car groups. I would always hear about how everyone (but me and my partner)went out to some really nice restaurant after service and how much of a great time they had. *sigh*
However, I didn't enjoy doing early morning streetwork, that's when we caught up on all the gossip.

What are some of your favorite urban legends?
by BQE inmine is the story of a lady who was witnessing alone in an apartment building, and aparently she knocked on the door of some rapists/murderers/drug dealers......whatever......she was "saved" by two angels, only visible to the attackers, that accompanied her on that visit.
.
or how about the one where a householder had his finger on the trigger of a gun and was just about to pull it when.....all of a sudden....out of nowhere (drumroll please) a witness knocked on his door and offered him "the promise of everlasting life in the new system of thingstm"!!

My ex-father-in-law (an elder) relayed this experience to me, we'll call him Bro. G.
He was at his father's house (who is also an elder), when a call came from a sister in his father's hall. She called because she needed an elder's help. Bro. G mentioned that his father wasn't in, but he is also an elder and could help her. She said that she went outside to hang up laundry and when she returned, all of the dishes in her kitchen had come out of the cabinets and were broken all over the floor. Apparently, she had been having demon problems.
Bro. G said "I'm sorry sister, but I can't help you." Then he hung up on her.
So much for getting elder assistance.

Forgotten/Unforgotten Friends
by kheli insince i am recently out of the "truth", i still find that i have a couple of people that i really miss.
i have managed to get past the stage of obsessing about whether or not certain people still think/care about me.. but, every now and then i wonder about my (ex)best friend.
she was like a sister to me.

Talk about irony...I ran into my ex-best friend today. She looked directly at me, but did not acknowledge me in any way.
I feel that I've gotten the "closure" I need.
I'm an "all or nothing" type of person. I refuse to accept being told that she still have feelings for me, when her actions suggest otherwise. She is still bonded to the organization and I know that she believes that she is serving the true God, the true way. I choose to respect her privacy and as a result, I will not contact her again.
If she wants to have a relationship with me, she is fully capable of pursuing that.

Whats your fav song or band?
by Beans inother than the kingdom songs i`m sure we must have squeezed in some time to listen to the radio between territories and on the way to the mettings.. my musical tastes vary from classical to heavy head banging music, basically i like everything!i love the cult, rush, van halen, boston, etc anything from the 80`s retro era.. but my favourite song would be everything counts by depech mode and she sells sanctuary by the cult!.

I'm glad you got closure with your friends before the big announcement. I did get to talk to my best friend, before everything was finalized, but I guess I knew things wouldn't be the same. But I do see that there are better things to come...I'm having my first child this summer! Woohoo!

Thanks for the advice on moving on & making new friends. I'm working on it.

I'm sure these feelings I'm having will go away. ("This too shall pass") I just have to try to keep putting things in their proper perspective.
It is certainly unsettling to know that our ties to an organization has proved to be so traumatic for us (at times). This couldn't possibly have been what Christ had in mind for true Christianity.
Thank you all for your replies, I appreciate them very much.

Don't want to stumble anyone!
by Beck_Melbourne indid you have narrow minded turds as elders/overseers in your congregation?
yup so did i...they're everwhere.. "there was this one time..at band camp"....it was in a hired hall actually...where we used to organise congregation functions like farewells etc.
this usually consisted of food...non alcoholic beverages...and some entertainment...usually square dancing and some skits...and a presentation or speech.. at one function a particular elder was offended that the 'gay gordon' was one of the dances for the evening...so he promptly left...yup...at the next function it was renamed the 'happy gordon'...as his conscience wouldn't allow him to attend otherwise.

Apparently, I had one earring too many for a certain sister I ran into while I was out in streetwork. She commented on how surprised she was that the elders hadn't talked to me about it yet.
