  Very nicely done!

  Do you honestly believe that only one in every 500 people would be considered by Jesus as being a good person, worthy of salvation?

  I can hear a JW answer "yes" to this, citing the conversation between Jehovah and Abraham prior to the destruction of Sod′om, Go·mor′rah, Ad′mah, Ze·boi′im and Be′la.

  The other thing that caught my eye was the assumed rate of 2.4% growth as a constant, moving into the future. I understand too much data would cloud the point you were making with long term projections, but I wonder if a one-sentence statement on how that growth figure has plummeted over the last several years might impact the overall sense of futility in the JW inclination to be excited about future growth. Just my .02

  i'm usually clothed, fed, and out the door to work before my roommate even comes out of her room in the morning.

  she informed me after work yesterday that she opened the cereal cabinet and found the milk carton sitting there.. .

  jgnat, I lost my car too. When I was living in Wash. D.C. I parked my car around the other side of my building and forgot I parked it there. Reported it stolen, cops came and took a report, then I found it later that evening.

  I have also come out of the store and gotten in to someone elses car.

  i think the boys at watchtower hq found a way around that rule.

  they have learned how to destroy the natural affection of those doing the shunning and those being shunned.. .

  Thanks for all the feedback, folks. Much of the counsel and suggestions fall under common sense - a part of the brain not easily accessible when the reality of the situation is closing in on you.

  I have started making other friends, actually, and I enjoy activities with them. I just miss the familiar sometimes.

  i've been giving some thought to the society's latest decision to reduce the size of the awake, and relaunch jw.org as a revamped site - intended for bringing in yet more converts.

  for those who missed it, here is the relevant part of the leaked letter to elders discussing these changes.... the internet is a technology that jehovahs organization is using to good advantage to spread the good news to all corners of the earth.

  consider the impact our web sites are having.

  This hacker story (above) made me remember the time, ? 15 years ago ?, when someone hacked the GodHatesFags website operated by the Westboro/Phelps clan. Anyone trying to access godhatesfags.com was redirected to godlovesfags.com.

  Illegal behavior is illegal. OF COURSE I would never suggest it. But wouldn't it be funny if every person clicking on jw.org was redirected to a website with a REAL life saving message?

  I'm usually clothed, fed, and out the door to work before my roommate even comes out of her room in the morning. She informed me after work yesterday that she opened the cereal cabinet and found the milk carton sitting there.

  "Ooops!", says I.

  She just laughed it off. What can you do? I reminded her at least it wasn't as bad as the time she opened the refrigerator and found my work boots.

  Is it stress or senility? I'm 45 years old. I was really hoping I had a few more years before I had to start worrying about stuff like this. Tell me I'm not the only one going BONKERS!

  Love endures all things, huh? I don't think so. I think the boys at Watchtower HQ found a way around that rule. They have learned how to destroy the natural affection of those doing the shunning AND those being shunned.

  I don't regret for a moment my decision to leave the JW religion. It was the right thing to do in general and the only way I could continue having respect for God in particular. I'm confident I did the right thing. But the cost is so high. I have lost all family and friends. I know this is hardly a new story on this site; it's been kicked around and analyzed from every direction. But the punishment for doing the right thing is causing me to lose my grip on the God for whom I did the thing in the first place. I find myself so angry and resentful that I sometimes wish my family would come to their senses and seek me out just so I can show them how it feels to be rejected. I have lost all affection for them and I don't want them back. I want to hurt them.

  I know how ugly that is. I know it fly's in the face of "be forgiving". God didn't lash out at me when I returned to Him after a fifteen-year debauched hiatus. But I find myself entertaining thoughts of how much it will hurt those people if they ever find out they screwed up, and it puts a little smile on my face.

  You're not supposed to feel that way about your own family. It's not normal. It's also probably not very Christian but there doesn't seem to be anything I can do about it.

  recently, a distant relative died.

  first off, i must emphasize she was a beautiful jw with a genune loving heart, who 'refused' to "cut off" a former jw sibling and some us extended family who are also former jws.

  she came to a few gatherings, being totally loving and fun, never bringing up any jw issues or quips.

  have anyone of you read, the absolutly jaw dropping paragraph in this article about a women who was hit by her husband?

  its in page 25 of the 2/15/12 wt study edition (i read the dumbed down version).. .

  if there was any question, that the watchtowers stance is for wives to simply take it when their husbands abuse them, this makes it crystal clear.. who the hell is scanning these things before they go to print?

  Just finished the survey. The questions were no-brainers except for the first one.

  Do you believe that the Governing Body's Writing Department was right to include the above experience in the Feb 2012 Watchtower?

  Most respondent's clicked "no". I clicked "yes".

  Including or not including the experience in their magazine doesn't change the experience. It still happened and will continue to happen because that is the mindset already in play within the Watchtower organization. By the WTS publicly endorsing this behavior creates precisley the kind of backlash we're seeing here... the kind of attention to the problem the WTS DOES NOT WANT... as evidenced by Alfred's report above that they changed the wording in the spanish edition.

  My take is that more good will come from the WTS having yanked it's own panties down in the public square.
