my jw sister was over tonight for supper and after a couple of glasses of vino she told me that "today's watchtower study was bullshit" and that one of the 'elite elders' made a comment that bothered her a great deal.. he was apparently at bethel not too long ago and "one of the big-wigs" who was giving a talk said "don't be afraid of dying for the truth brothers" and this jackass was stupid enough to repeat this at the meeting.

it bothered my sister a great deal and i said to her: "soooo are they going to start passing out the kood-aid or what?

" she knew exactly what i was talking about and she said "ya, i wondered the same thing.

If you were a Witness, when did you realize the Governing Body was apostate?

for more than 30 years i believed everything that came from the watchtower society, especially since i lived at bethel for a while and i knew a lot of the gb members, who to me seemed intelligent and personable.

at the beginning, the emphasis was on the bible, the kingdom, jehovah and jesus.

but gradually over time, there would appear an elephant in the room that no one seemed to talk about, such as the change in the understanding of "generation.

Many points that have been brought up in this thread have occurred to me at one time or another, but I was unable to put my finger on it and identify it as eloquently as some of you folks have done here.

This is a great thread for lurkers and newcomers. These "we're the same" experiences will help lubricate old rusty cogs and get some heads spinning in the right direction.

Even as I was walking out the door of the kingdom hall and writing my disassociation letter, I still believed the WTS to be Jehovah's hand picked organisation - gone awry, like the ancient Israelite nation. I was still fully indoctrinated but I couldn't stay there under the circumstances. It was gut-wrenching.

I suspected there must be other christians who wanted to remain christians who might have left the organization for similar reasons, so I started searching the internet for support. That lead to JWN, which led to reading CoC and ISoCF... and my eyes were opened.

I never learned the truth about the truth until after I left the truth in search of the truth.

What a journey! It's been worth every agonizing, enlightening, tearful, refreshing moment!

here is a quote from the 8/15/12 watchtower study simplified edition that just was posted on jw.org.. on page 13 paragraph 12 it says "those who ignore the warnings from the faithful and discreet slave will harm themselves and those they love.".

also, another doozy is earlier on paragraph it likens those who have not read social networking articles from the faithful slave before using, "is like taking a powerful medicine without first reading the warning on the bottle.".

im not even done reading this whole magazine yet, but i thought i'd share these insane comments.

i came home the other day and found an invitation to the upcoming district convention in my door.

i don't believe these are left in the doors of the general public, so a well-meaning witness must have been thinking of me, even though i have not been to the kh in about 7 years.. the leading question on the front immediately got my attention, and made my jaw drop a bit.. i thought i would ask the forum, .

so, i actually stopped at two different tables that i saw.

the first was 2 elderly men - they were so sweet and open to discuss.

i brought up the topic of the divine name and why the wt inserted it into the nt with no evidence from greek manuscripts.

sexual harrassment suits were running wild in american businesses throughout the 1990s, the end result was "sensitivity training" and forcing mangers to sign contracts that revealed "we understand sexual harrassment is bad!

if i touch a girl, i get sued and the company is free!".

elder's are now trained to handle every situation that can possibly come up, if a lawsuit emerges, the elders are sued and the watchtower, at their discretion can defend their elders if they feel it is to their best interest.

Jehovah's holy spirit is lovingly maneuvering things so that his spiritual sons are protected from the ever increasing attacks by Satan and his band of apostate warriors who would like nothing more than to keep the Governing Body tied up in litigation rather than focus on providing the flock with food at the proper time.

Brothers, isn't it marvelous to be part of this dynamic, forward-moving organization?
