  MSN report on false end of the world predictions includes JW's

  i thought this quote on msn regarding all the interest in end of the world stuff because of today's date 12/12/12 and the 21st as the end of the mayan calendar.. "figuring out when it all comes crashing down isn't easy, though.

  the jehovah's witnesses, for example, have predicted the end of the world at least four times, only to be forced to backtrack.

  Jehovah's Pagan Witnesses?

  recent responses to teeny's "siestas are bad" blog on jwb have seen witnesses defending their stance against birthdays on the basis that the practice has "pagan origins".

  that got me wondering how many things with a "pagan origin" a witness accepts in their daily life without a fuss.

  upon examination it seems they may be nearly as "steeped in paganism" as the religions they condemn.. for the details (and at least one good chuckle) please see my latest blog:.

  Yes, the birthday thing was always very flakey. Supposedly it brings undue attention to the one birthday person. Ha! But anniversaries bring undue attention to two people and are OK!

  New Light on the GB's new elite status still NOT AVAILABLE on JW.org in other languages (8 days later)

  so far, available in english only... i guess there is a lead time for the interpreters.... this presents an opportunity for those who attend non-english congregations to ask their jw friends important questions on this subject, have them research the wt cd and then present this new light as a "possibility".... for example, you can ask them questions like:.

  what would you say if i told you that the governing body no longer represents the annointed (a.k.a the fds)?what would you say if i told you that charles taze russell is no longer considered a part of the faithful & discreet slave?what would you say if i told you that, even though the publications say the fds started in 33, they have only been around for 94 years?i'm pretty sure you will be viewed as an apostate... until this news on the annual meeting shows up in their language.

  just a thought.... .

  I don't see it as a big deal. Excerpts from annual meetings were never before now presented as official text. The meetings occur and friends made notes avaialble for those who were not privy to attend. Anything that came out of an annual meeting would be made official in the Watchtower.

  Maybe te GB is downplaying it.

  Wow.

  Also, knowing what we know now, we can lok at the words and their meaning.

  Thus, Jehovah can view these as righteous in the sense that he did Abraham.

  So , the riteouse are to be called, and are accepted, yet because they believe in their own position, notice they mince words and don't try to offer a gurantee to those outside their clic.

  "Black Jesus" is redundant.

  Rev 1:14-15

  His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;

  And his feet like unto fine bronze, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.

  Sounds like a grey haired Black man to me.

  1 John 5:14 - who hears prayers?

  the last talk on the school this week was about jehovah being the 'hearer of prayer.

  ' one of the proof texts used was 1 john 5:14.

  "and this is the confidence that we have toward him, that, no matter what it is that we ask according to his will, he hears us.".

  Thanks PSacramento for pasting the entire passage.

  But, please have a look at each and every "he" and "his". Nowhere was "he" or "his" attributed to Jesus. The majority were "his son", and some "he"s; referring to God or the reader.

  Then we have verse 20 and how it ends.

  20 And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.

  Why did the Early Church Accept the Four NT Gospels and Reject the Gnostic Gospels?

  this has been a subject that has been explored by many secular scholars today.

  bart ehrman is one of them.

  the divinci code had this to say about why the gospels were chosen:.

  In once place it is said the Gnostic gospels did not exist upon the early church evaluating the 4 gospels of M,M,L and J.

  In another it is said that the Gnostic gospels were rejected.

  The play is made that the earliest was the Gospel of Thomas (150 A.D.). What about others that came after the comments?

  How can one reject something that does not exist yet?

  Also, why claim that the early church "exposed (them) as false" only 1500 years ago? Why is that not 1800-1900 years ago?

  I hereby reject any future clarification made regarding the assertion and accept for gospel that the early church made a decision on the information they had at the time but did not directly reject Gnostic teachings, for which they had no copies of to evaluate.

  Time shmime. Those irregulars are bad for the congregation. Maybe instead of forcing ones to tun in anything, no one but pioneers should turn in Time, and everyone else become inactive.
