Jesus' Physical Resurrection = Take the Ransom Back?
by InterestedOne inin my "study," we have encountered the matter of whether or not jesus' physical body rose from the dead.
i brought up a couple of scriptures that seem to indicate physical (john 2:18-22 and john 10:17,18).
the jw's i am "studying" with explained how, although those verses may appear to indicate physical, jesus couldn't have meant that because if he physically rose from the dead, he would have taken back the ransom.. now that i know the wt reasoning on this, can someone point me to another source, link, book, article, etc.

Interesting thread. I was reading at the posts, and something just doesn't click.
Alright so the part about Jesus appearing in a room, crossing walls and stuff, I can believe that. (taking into account all his many miracles). But if Jesus had a body and was able to show his wounds and eat, which type of body did he have? Physical or spiritual?
In Luke 24:39 he says: "Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have."
So he was made of flesh and bones. Is that a physical or spiritual body?
And another thing. If Christians who receive the resurrection or survive, will have spiritual bodies like that of Jesus' resurrected body, how come the scripture below says that 'flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom' (if Jesus said he was made of flesh and bones after being resurrected)
1 Corinthians 15:50 says "I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable."
It's confusing, but I'd really appreciate any comment from someone.

so oompa got df'd this week...
by oompa inno call to invite me to a committee meeting...no notification of deciding i should be df'd....no telling my jw wife of the announcement...not a chance to appeal what i did not even know what was going on...my mini-serve son is devasted....he even researched it....told me to go to page 153-154 of the od book...never heard of it but it is a green hardback given to all who are to be baptized.
wow...the elders broke every rule in this book as to my case.... i have no respect for these men that can take away your jw family without even telling you they are going to.
my jw son has now begged me to meet with my committee...even though there is prob zero chance they can reverse the decision...that chance is from when they let you know...and you have to appeal by letter within 7 days (i cant make this stuff up!!

Oompa i'm really sorry to read about your long series of unfortunate events. But at least you are alive and recovering!
Please don't give up hope. If I'm correct one of your sons is not a JW, so you still have him. And hopefully your other son realizes how unfair was the m.o of the BoE. Something good might come out of all this story.

As an Ex-JW (or whatever you are) Tell Us Your Core Hope / Dream / Wish
by OnTheWayOut inwhat i ask is for some specifics.
it helps to say it, type it, get it off your chest.
read mine and maybe you will have a good idea what i mean.. i hope that i get my wife out of the jw's by all of the positive reinforcement i have given her to be an independent thinker.

Like MrFreeze said, I'd also like a happy family and kids, who can enjoy their childhood without any indoctrination.
Hopefully more family members leave the JW cult. Even though I've been successful in making them realize that the WT isn't what they claim to be, some still continue participating until they find another alternative religion.
And it would be great if at least 1 person, from those that I'll send in a letter before my DA; would wake up and leave the WT.

counting time (2)
by varian ini know i m a simple mind, but if 3 jws study with a jw-child or someone else for an hour, they ll all report there own time, which will add up to 3 hours, right?
but the real netto time spent for the study is obviously 1 hour, no matter how many jws took part.
am i seeing a mathimatical fault?.

DagothUr thanks for enlightening me on the many rules of 'service'. Especially I was surprised to read about the rule that a brother and sister can't go out more than once a month. I had no idea there was a rule about that, if so where is that written?
I ask because some months ago a brother kept on asking me to go out in service with me, and after going out like 3 times in a month he said he wanted to get to know me better. But I would have never guessed that multiple invitations to service counted as signs of interest.

Sorry I have to ask, but, what exactly does a special pioneer do?
by dgp inyep, i'm the worldly who needs explanations about simple things.
i will appreciate it if someone told me what exactly a special pioneer does, and what a person gets out of being one, in terms of watchtower politics.. thanks..

Everything turns out the opposite to what they say
by alanv inwhen we were first introduced to the jws i'm sure like me you were very impressed by their claims.
things like.
1 god has a name.

I'm still in though mentally out. It's good you're pointing out those things, because JW claim to be superior in applying them. I now know that:
1. God has a name but it's not in the NT, so it's not obligatory for Christians to use it non stop.
2. JW aren't the only ones preaching, effectiveness is up to debate (they have success in developing world, not so much in developed countries)
3. This was something that always bothered me when I was 'studying' with the JW - if love was the 1 identifying mark; i knew many churches whose members were really much more approachable, loving and out there to help each other.
4. It is not clear if we're living in the last days, even if we are, these days are definitely not 'deep into the end, start your countdown' like the JW teach. The earth will surely have an end scientifically speaking.
5. JW base many of their beliefs on their current interpretation, which is open to change. They take from the Bible what they'd like to see there.

i agree with jwfacts. That's the first thing that came to mind when I received those mags. They give the impression that taking care of kids, having elderly parents at home, being busy at work and so forth are a burden and make you unhappy. On the other hand being a single sister, with nothing to worry about is sure to make you happy...really untrue.
