Does anyone know....
by Blackbird Fly inhow to find out when and where the scheduled district conventions are without going to the kh and looking at the letter?
while im fading, id prefer to remain 'in the loop' to some extent so when the still in family asks when 'ours' is i have an answer.
is it posted anywhere online??

This story was related by a "reputable" pioneer in my ex-congo who somehow had heard/knew of the people involved firsthand.
Two JW guys go out in service one day. At one of the doors apparently doing territory, a man comes out armed with a gun and shoots one of the JWs who dies.
The man is arrested and interrogated. Eventually he's put in prison. During the court hearings he relates that he commited the murder because he heard a voice commanding him to do exactly that. The murdered man's father was present during this confession and he being a JW is determined to explain to his son's murderer where the voices came from. He visits him in prison and tells him about the origin of the voices...demons :) A study is started with the man and eventually after serving the sentence he's released. (insanity plea??)
But there's more... This man becomes a regular pioneer but instead of serving 70 hrs (or 90?) he does double the amount of service. When asked why he said that he took the life of a pioneer and now is making up for his lost service...

It's been a long time I haven't posted on jwn. But I find this news just great!
Congrats to the group of 7/8? (and many more to follow) for this initiative and I wish you much success!
Also there is no 'ex/JW" group in my part of the world, so I already filled in the volunteer form to get involved in any way in raising awareness about the harmful effects of the WT.

Who here likes Eurovision?

its great!!!
40 or so singers from all different countries all come together for a massive show where they all sing their song for 3 mins and then move on for the next singer.

I'm from Europe and the song contest is popular here. I do enjoy it especially the well written balads...well the dancy, rhythmic ones aren't too bad either for entertainment purposes :)

this was about 2years ago,.
my wife brought up the un thing to my parents, much to their horror and despite me advising her not to.

My experience with my family is quite similar. In the beginning they refused to listen to anything against the Society, flat out refusing to believe any such 'alliance' with the UN ever took place.
I then also challenged them to ask an elder (who'd know) saying my study had asked about that. Guess what, the first reply my family got from this elder was that it was a lie and a hoax :) sounds the same as your elder.
I then got his email and presented him with the link (supposedly provided by my study)...he emailed back days later writing "I'm sorry your study has been exposed to apostate propaganda" with 2 attachments - one being a letter to the elders admitting the Society's registering as a NGO at the DPI to gain access to the library, the other attachment being a rather long document by some JW apologist trying to justify matters, explaining that the WT had broken no laws, wasn't lying, etc..
You can imagine how happy I felt considering that this elder had just confirmed my side of the story, and imagined my family would wake up...Unfortunately as in your case, my family believed the 'apologist' version and that was the end of that!

i levelled with the sister who continues to chat with me, telling her i will never return to the organisation and my reasons why.
i hope i didnt hurt her but i have done what i could never do and tell her things the way they absolutely are.

Don't feel bad about it. It's her choice for cutting the ties and not your own. She's choosing the org (authority of 7 men) over your friendship.
You can still hope and pray that what you sent her does resonate within her if not at present, perhaps in the future.
You never know what might happen down the road to cause her to start thinking and consider your conversations. Just be open about accepting her back in case she changes her mind.

Diseases that force you to violate Jehovah's commands
by rebel8 ina few days ago i ate a corn nut that was kind of sharp.
it made a very tiny scratch on my tongue the size of a period (.).
i have a bleeding disorder so it bled for 3 hours.

1) Chronic fatigue syndrome and 2) depression were 2 medical conditions that made people miss numerous meetings in my KH. (and they weren't considered weak for it)
