last week as i listened to the public talk, i noticed.
that several times the speaker referred to the watchtower.
as the source of authority.. he said that "in the july1, 1980 watchtower page 15. paragraph 4 it says".... it is like he was looking up a bible.
Ask any witness what happened to Jepthah's daughter. If they tell you she was offered up as a burnt offering, then the Bible holds more weight.
If they tell you she dedicated her life to serve in a temple in Shiloh, then you have your answer.
i now find it idiotic that i could ever beleive the bible to be the inspired word of god.....,throughout the bible "god"has only dealt with a few of his favoured spokespersons to deliver his messages to a minority populace.individuals at first,..... then, patriarchs,nomads,a small nation,ignoring all other nations that had sprung up.......,abandoning his chosen nation,sending his "son"to a small nation, only giving them his pearls of wisdom,much of what was not even recorded for prosperity and remember he never wrote a word,it was left up to other imperfect humans to record what he was supposed to have said,just a smidgen......,again ignoring the bulk of humankind keeping them in ignorance of his plan for universal salvation,leaving it all up to imperfect humans to spread this message of salvation, whom he has already condemned for their sinfullness and disobedience.i just find it so unbeleivable.
in the 6000 years of recorded history only a fraction of the earths population,maybe less than a third have ever heard of the god of the bible, or his so called plan to redeem humankind ,thats millions and millions of people.

So Abraham was a better teacher than god?
God just can't figure out how to convince people of stuff, he's too dumb superior to communicate with humans on a human level. So he has to find the select few who can understand his jibberish divine wisdom and tell THEM. Then those chosen people can go around translating it into something normal people can understand.
Basically if the supreme creator of the universe is just not capable of proving to me that he exists, what makes you think you're going to do any better? (Interestingly, you've already done better, since I'm already fairly certain that YOU exist. . .)

I used to play a game for the PC called 'Planet Blupi'. You control a population of little yellow people and make them do stuff like build houses, grow food, blow up enemies etc.
I had the ability to cheat very trivially. But I didn't because it would be too easy and I wanted to do things the hard way.
Sometimes I'd assign a single little Blupi's to clear out a whole forest just to see what pattern he'd do it in.
Other times I'd stick a Blupi on an island and make him grow tomatoes until there was no space left at all.
Sometimes I'd have them make huge amounts of dynamite and line the map with the stuff and set it all off at once.
Many times they would die of exhaustion to do the stupid little task I assigned them too. All the while I could have accomplished this same task with a few keyboard strokes on my own, but I made them do it instead.
But then again, I didn't care about the Blupi's.
...just unbelievable.

i have a story to share with you and i hope that it does not bore you as it did just the opposite for me .
after hearing what i was told i was so pumped up with holy spirit i thought i was going to crawl right out of my own skin .
I don't know why anyone would be offended if told that their brain might not be working at 100% capacity while they're DYING. . .
It shouldn't be offensive. Yeah I think she was hallucinating, but she was feverish, drugged and her brain was literally shutting down. Nobody should expect her to be thinking clearly at that point and she shouldn't be ashamed of what her brain was doing.
for those who still show up at the meetings, how do you manage?.
do you still offer comments and how do you actually muster up the boldness to gave talks and still do all of those craps?..

I still go, since I still live with my witness family.
I give 1 answer every Sunday and none during the other meeting. . . pretty much the bare-minimum to avoid people saying: "I missed your comment"
I give maybe 1 talk per year. (Bible readings not counted) Actually the last one was over a year ago: " How Do Jehovah's Witnesses arrive at their explainations of the Bible?"
Everyone said I did a really good job, but they won't give me any more talks unless I comment more and get more hours in service. They still give me readings though, which is fine since it doesn't take any effort.
I like to view it as a challenge. Being able to make an argument for something when you believe the exact opposite is not a very noble skill, but it's a useful one. Maybe someday I'll be a politician.
it is impossible to unweave the complex cobweb of a failed marriage and totally understand it, let alone to generalize the occurance for many other couples.
but, let's assume the case of a marriage of two typical jw born-ins.
as far as jw's go, they grew up without major disfunction, still talk to their parents, etc.. in cases like this, how many of these couples are still together?
The fact that they're not divorced doesn't neccesarily disqualify it from being a 'failed marriage'.
