Anyone have any idea where I can get a pdf of the theocratic ministry school book? I did a search but all the topics are 2 years old and the links are broken now. And for some reason all I can get from a google search is the stupid yearly schedule.

Birthdays: Anniversaries of baby showers?

my jw father is arguing with me about holidays and birthdays so i asked him what baby showers were and how they differed from birthdays?
if mother's day and father's day are wrong, how is a baby's day (shower) not idolatry too?.

Giving birth to a child is idolatry.
The parents focus ALL their time and attention on this little idol they created, giving it gifts and sacrifices and food offerings. Time and money which would otherwise be spent preaching and worshipping.
Did the mother spend less time in service while she was pregnant?
Would they miss a meeting if she went into labor on Sunday morning?
Who are they REALLY putting first? Jehovah or their idol?
Are they going to be able to give Jehovah their utmost? Or are they KNOWINGLY lowering their 'utmost' by deciding to have a child?If THAT isn't idolatry, then what is?

There is of course the possibility that the reason you've never heard of this before is simply that it's not true.
I would require more evidence before I spread this story around.
I can imagine you telling a witness about this, they say: "That never happened."
Then what? You are left with: "Yuh huh! This guy on the internet says he talked to someone who said it happened!"They already think apostates are liars and sent by Satan to trick them.

1984 WT cover, 1914 Gen That Will Not Pass -- How many of 16 alive today?
by FatFreek 2005 inthose people on that cover were supposed to represent a group of people that would still live on into the new order.
in your best guess, how old were most of those 16 people at the time the photo was taken, and how many do you suppose are still alive today?.
remember, that wt was printed in 1984, nearly 27 years ago.

Every one of you was just thrilled to find out that 10 of these old people are confirmed dead.
Imagine how Ann Rose's daughter would feel if she came here and saw her dead mother's name etched on a paper and everyone thinking out loud: "10 down! 6 to go! Can't wait for all these old farts to die so I can rub it in the noses of my braindead family!"
Would any of you be genuinely happy to find out that one of these people managed to live to 105? Or would you be disappointed and hope he dies soon?

with duty.” However, no Scriptural passages

How, then, should a Christian view this matter?

It must be noted that the Holy Scriptures
do not directly mention gambling. This does
not mean, however, that we are left with no
direction on the matter.The article then goes on to make a very weak case involving the 'god of good luck' (There's also a god of the harvest you shouldn't pray too, does that mean farming is evil?)
It also uses the command that you shouldn't desire your fellowman's things to prove that you shouldn't gamble. Although I'm pretty sure that would include investing in stocks and bonds, doing ANY kind of business to get someones money or things. ETC.
Ignoring all those lousy arguments to prove their preconcieved notion that gambling is against the scriptures: They didn't mention gods good buddy Samson!
Judges 14:12-19 Then Samson said to them, "Let me pose a riddle to you. If you can correctly solve and explain it to me within the seven days of the feast, then I will give you thirty linen garments and thirty changes of clothing. 13 But if you cannot explain it to me, then you shall give me thirty linen garments and thirty changes of clothing."
One would think this account would be worth mentioning in an article about the bible's view on gambling. But instead the writers pretend that the bible is completely silent on the matter (but give their rules anyway I might add).
