  Is it ethical to make rich pay more taxes?

  i'm having trouble getting behind the idea of making rich people pay more taxes just because they have more.. aside from the obvious: "i'm not rich so lets tax them instead of me.

  " the three reasons i hear most often are:.

  1: they may have "earned" their wealth but they don't deserve it!.

  Noncommittal Prayers

  anyone else notice the growing trend towards prayers among witnesses to not actually ask for anything specific in prayers.. .

  phrases like: "please help my husband get home from work safely today".

  have changed to: "please be with my husband today".

  "If Armageddon came in '75, the new ones would have died"

  that was the reasoning in a recent public talk at my hall.. namely: if the end of the world happened in 1975, then loads of people who had not yet converted or been born would have been destroyed, or never existed, so therefore we should be happy that yahweh was patient and armageddon hasn't come yet.. .

  anyone else see like 5 blaringly horrible problems with this reasoning?.

  JWs having children lack faith

  if you're a witness couple and you choose to have a child together, it means you think armageddon is not going to arrive for at least 9 more months.

  and then you'll be nursing it for at least 6 months.. that's almost a year and a half.

  if armageddon started within that time: woe to you!.

  anyone have any idea where i can get a pdf of the theocratic ministry school book?

  i did a search but all the topics are 2 years old and the links are broken now.

  and for some reason all i can get from a google search is the stupid yearly schedule..

  says that gambling is not considered sinful.

  Secret elders meeting in the end of 2010

  all the elders in my circuit are driving across the state for a big elders meeting.

  and the ministerial servants have to do it on sunday.

  evidentally they were all told to study certain parts of their new book before going.. .

  Inconsistant loss of 'privileges'

  gotta love how giving talks, mowing the lawn, plowing the parking lot, adjusting microphones and counting the money are all considered 'privileges'.. but if you just stop answering questions.

  bam no more giving talks, handling mics, or definately counting money.. but no matter what you do.

  you will never loose the 'privilege' of mowing the kingdom hall lawn.
