It's the old Civic Center (I believe) that they used to use before they bought it in the late 1990's I believe and renovated it.

Dinner With a Pioneer Couple Last Night
by dontplaceliterature inmy wife and i had dinner with a pioneer couple last night that we've been friends with for a long time.
they are both nice people, with the wife having a few dashes of pretentiousness mixed in.. usually when we are together, they always talk about pioneering, which makes some sense as it's the primary focus of thier lives.
however, it has gotten progressively more dominate in conversation over the last couple of years, to the point of being annoying.

It's the commitment they are looking for. That makes the BOE look good to the CO. The life saving work is not as important as them being able to announce XXXX pioneers this month. If a person did 150 hours a month but did not "sign up" they would not receive encouragement, they would be counseled for not signing up and being an example and following direction.

The ones in my old hall known for the elaborate spreads are the ones that get the CO each visit. It was really the old BS groups that were to take CO feeding assignments each day, and that whole BS group was invited to lunch on their day, and expected to help of course. One study was so overboard the whole study would work on the meal instead of FS with the CO, and the CO just LOVED eating there. Afternoon service was just about zero after that huge feast. But there were more genuine COs. One I remember wanted simple sandwishes brought to the hall so they could get back out to FS quickly.

Is there a "dominent family" in your hall?
by pontoon inback years ago when we were getting ready to split, i suggested that two or three bros and their families went to the other hall, otherwise 75% of our new body would be belong to the same family.
my idea was shot down.
so, any time we needed a show of hands, all six of those men (father, two sons, two son in laws, a brother to one son in law) always voted the same way.

Pistoff, good post. Remember all those assembly interviews of ones that used to pioneer and they all say it was the best time of their life...bla bla bla.. They want to make the circumstances to do it again...bla bla bla.. I always sat their thinking if it was so great how come they stopped. How come Jeh didn't work it out for them being they were so willing. Same old crap over and and over again.
