What is there to hide? 100% Transparency.
by HintOfLime inwhy doesn't the wt provide 100% transparency?
what does "god" and his "faithful and discreet slave" have to hide from anyone?.
mind you - non-religious non-profit organizations are doing it.

Walkill Bethel Recreational Facility
by dontplaceliterature inmy wife and i just visited some friends over the weekend from another congregation.
these two are both full time pioneers, and also participate in various construction projects around the country.
the husband just got back from a 3 week trip to walkill, new york to help with construction on a new residence building at 'the farm' (does anyone call it that anymore?)..

MOST, the MAJORITY, like maybe 99% of dubs have no idea about their rec facility. I guarantee it will never be on a farm tour. The KM won't mention it. The widow giving up her coins will never know.

True, GB and bethel heavies do not have the lifestyle of the rich and famous, but they have NO material responsibilities, EVERYTHING being provided for them. They also live in an enviroment where they are literally surrounded by hundreds of people that would KISS their feet. They are treated like GODS, bethelites brownnosing and kissing up to them in the hope they will rise to the status of bethel heavyweight. They THRIVE on the status they have and would never want to give it up, reason enough to keep it all going.

When someone asked me what religion I was I would say "I'm a Jehovah's Witness." So many others including my ex wife would say "I'm ONE of Jehovah's Witnesses." I could never figure that out. They would make such a point of saying "one of...." What's up with that?

Idle question about Abraham and Human Sacrifice
by corpusdei ini don't have my usual resources in front of me, so i can't fact check this, but there's been something bothering me.
one of the things mentioned quite often as evidence of the wickedness and evil practices of the false religion that surrounded ancient israel is the practice of child sacrifice (baal and molech being the frontrunners as i recall).
but ...... didn't god tell abraham to kill his own son isaac as a human sacrifice?

I've said on another thread that Abraham/Isaac story is one of the bible stories I was never able to be OK with. Kill my son? Can't do it, take me instead.

Does the Governing Body (or past presidents) members have (or had to) have body guards?
by Joliette inwas watching a biography on the history channel about presidental securities and secrets, how the president is guarded just in case of an attack, an assaination attempt, etc.
it got me to thinking about if any of the past or current gb members (or wt presidents) have ever had any death threats?
do they have a specific plan for a gb member when they visit a city or country?

I knew a brother in his 70's-80s yrs old that body guarded for Rutherford. Back then bodybuilding was not popular like today and this brother was a bodybuilder and was BIG. Him and his bodybuilding partner sat where they could stop a person from rushing the stage at the Garden when Rutherford was talking. I asked him if anyone ever tried when he was there, he said no, back the we were quite intimidating, no one tried us. That brother was one of my favorite people, just a wonderful brother. He passed away some years ago.

Just have to add my name to the list of cancer survivors. Chemo, surgery, more chemo, back in 1982-84. I'm still here, healthy. Don't anyone think there is ever going to be a "cure" for cancer like just ONE cure to fix all cancers. Just too many different cancers. Also, there are already cures for cancer, I'm proof of that as are others already posted on this subject. Remember to that many of the chemo drugs come from tropical rain forest. I feel that chemotherpy is just intensified homopathy, and time does count. I received six different chemo drugs in my treatment. Each one attacked the cancer cells in a different way---one stopped the cell from dividing, another appeared to be food but it wasn't so the cells starved...... and so on. It was a long time ago and I forget the names of all the different chemos and what they did, but at the time I was going through it I was very on top of everything and understood what the Drs. were doing and why. I also believe there is more money to be made in cures than keeping people sick, and if cures are driven by greed, so what, its like go ahead and save my life, I really don't care if you're doing it so you can buy a bigger house. I could go on and on, but I won't, just two cents worth.
