  What Watchtower Got Wrong with Their Child Molestation Policy

  in the style of stephen lett, i'm trying to come up with an exhaustive, enumerated list (without his crazy eyebrows, goofy facial expressions, and nutty voice).

  what watchtower has gotten wrong isn't just their 2 witness rule.

  it goes much deeper into other failures of jw dogma that has allowed this injustice and others to flourish in their organization.

  I'd like to add to Nugget's point about repentance. Like many other religions, the WT is arrogantly confident that their elders can diagnose "genuine repentance" and that this would prevent re-offending. There seems to have been a small measure of watchfulness that the stepdaughter was not bothered again. . . but for CC to have been molested over 2 years, shows that the offender was allowed access to other children - completely unsupervised.

  They deserve to lose much more than $28 million.

  This was my 'Sign'

  in my previous post i mentioned that i'm staying in the org because i think i got a sign from god...some of you asked a lot of questions about my sign and even shared the society's view on asking for signs which i didn't know.. i didn't disclose exactly what the sign was.. some of you asked me what it was and even stated that i know that you all would pick apart and prove that my sign was just a frivolous excuse to hold on to the org.. maybe you were right.. so i've decided to tell you all exactly what it was---no embellishments or exaggerations.

  i would love to hear your opinions since i'm still in a terrible mess.sometimes i'm 100% this is not the truth then other times i'm 60%....i feel if god was giving me a sign i'd be 100% this is the truth you know?.

  so i woke up that morning and organized to go meeting.

  Just wanted to say I really admire your courage.

  You have read CoC, brought your concerns to this site and planned higher education. This, given your upbringing and the controlling nature of your religion is extraordinarily brave. Your willingness to disclose the nature of your sign is a further example of this bravery.

  Any God who cares about the moral values of this children cannot be displeased by courage and a willingness to test and lean. This IMO is confirmed by the Bible.

  With this attitude, and your care for your cousin, I'm sure you will both find your way. I hope it will be as painless as possible.

  so here i sat eating my father's day brunch and the knock at the door startled me.

  i peaked and it was a man and teenaged boy in suits.

  it was already like ninety degrees outside and they had on suit jackets....jws.

  CO Visits... Are elders honest about the TRUE state of the congregation?

  this question is really for elders or ex-elders (or ministerial servants in the know).... did you find that some elders would tend to "white-wash" the true state of the congregation when they had their sit-down with the co every 6 months?.

  did some elders feel pressure to hide certain things from a co for fear of being "removed" from the boe?.

  (judging by the "fakeness" that some elders displayed during co visits, i have to wonder whether they were really worried about being removed for not seeking out inactives or encouraging more participation during the wt study, book study or fs...).

  every time i'd ask jw's these questions they would give me bs answers like we will have to wait on jehovah to tell us in the new system or some other lamo thinking stopper.

  Another problem for the literal Flood is where did all the water come from? Where did it go after?

  My study director showed me where wt literature endorsed the ludicrous water canopy explanation, long ago thouroughly debunked.

  Were you surpised how little the "world" new about JW's after you left?

  i have been out of the jw organization for some time now and have been fairly active in discussing my adventures in watchtower with those who are interested.

  what really surprised me in the first few years after leaving was how little the "world" knew about jw's.

  we were taught that we have been warning the unwashed for 100+ years and they resist the message because satan keeps them from grasping this "good news".. in the many discussions i have had with these folks since leaving, it is amazing how little or no understanding about jw's beyond the blood issue and holidays they have.

  ...I find the vast majority of people know little to nothing about them despite their never-ending "preaching work".

  And as a non-jw I'd suggest that a large reason is that it isn't "preaching", it's selling. JWs don't come to the door to tell you you may not have a blood transfusion and you must regard your family and close friends as "walking corpses", they tell you that Paradise will be here 'soon' and everything wrong with the world will be 'fixed'. A bible study will tell you how!

  If the householder already knows some of the typically jw beliefs they sometimes offer a weak defense, but quickly move on.

  The great majority of what people know about jws is from contacts like Talesin, and from sites like these.

  Introduction Bio

  hi everyone, i would like to introduce myself and tell my story.

  from the standpoint of being one of jehovahs witnesses, my whole family is deeply involved as i was the 5th generation of witness and any children that my brothers or sister have will be the sixth generation.

  as some of my brothers and sisters are grandparents, i guess that makes their grandchildren a potential 7th generation.
