I posted at the old H20 as "J" but was also mod101. The H20 of today (Matty) is a pale shadow of its former self. This can be expected when trying to run somehting on a free board serivce. The old H20 was run on pay-for-use servers.

The original H20 was owned by a group run by Rick. While Kent did participate there he had nothing to do with the running of the site, but towards the end just the running down of it. This site JWD is owned and operated by Simon in the UK.

Kent has started his own board as part of his Watchtower Observer website.

I presume the person you debated with was Friend. He was a very intelligent guy and I recall going at it with him once or twice over various topics both here and at H20. I miss having him and his perspective at these boards.

Always glad to see a familiar face and hope to see more of you around.

Jehovah's Witnesses are good little sheep. Anything they read goes through their JW filter, gets sorted out and anything that fits into their own personal belief structure (what they want to believe) goes into memory and gets processed. Anything that contradicts their personalized beliefs (as they want things to be) gets discarded as either being lies or half truths or mistated facts.

Some people even after they leave the Borg maintain this same flawed filtering system.

Essentially its similar to a child plugging their ears singing "LA LA LA LA" I can't hear you!! LA LA LA LA"

Mr. Coffee

Mr. Coffee (Best pronounced with a thick Brooklyn accent) was the husband of a JW sister, who for several years was a regular pioneer. He was not a bum as was commented in the initial post.

He, as has been described by others, became a tourist attraction for the people coming to see the Bethel facilities. He was quite outspoken preferring to pick on sisters with make-up and non-Caucasians. One time while walking with Carey Barber up to 124, Barber made the comment under his breathe, "Yep the jackass is back again today". Mr Coffee decided to rant at Barber - "Oh you are scared of me today huh? You brought your body guard. he can't protect you from Jehovah , He (referring to me) may be a goliath (I am 6'5") but a little David can slay him."

Then started on his usual money rant this time about spending money on bodyguards etc. He followed us up to the entrance then found someone else to rant at.

The story about him getting hit was true but there was no long term injury and he did successfully sue (by settlement) for the injury. I had not heard the bucket of water story so can neither confirm or refute it.

LDH explained it well when she said:

This was one of my first exposures to an "Apostate"---therefore it was easy to dismiss them as NUTJOBS

He was pretty much viewed as comic relief by the Bethel family. He is one of the reasons why I have repeatedly commented on how we approach subjects on these boards. If we come across as nutjobs, questioning JW's will not take the information here seriously. For example who listens to You Know?

On average, there are 40,000 people worldwide that are disfellowshipped.

There are about 6,000 members here (recognizing of course some of these are duplicate/triplicate accounts). That 6,000 is over a 2 year period. That is 6,000 out of a possible 80,000 that have been df'd.

That number (80,000) does not include all the walk aways or ones that simply became inactive or disassociate themselves.

I think it is arrogant to feel that any one (or even 10) person can take credit for all these people. Some here have helped a lot, but let's keep it in balance.

I know personally I made the decision to walk away from the Org on my own without the help of any "apostate literature" I did however appreciate the support I received once that decision had been made and I found H20. The articles and essays written by Farkel and Jan did validate my reasons for leaving and often made me think about topics from a different angle.

The support I got from alleged "fluff" posters helped me greatly as well.

Bottom line, we can all play a part. We are no longer needing "human letters of recommendation" to prove our worth to a man made group. Some write the essays that help people, some provide emotional support, others take the time to sit and reason over and over with questioning JW's. All are of equal importance IMO.

as a few may recall watchtower policy has changed when circumstances serves the interest of the governing body in getting rid of someone they want to railroad.

an example that has been offered involves peter gregerson.

peter was a personal friend to ray franz, in 1980 peter wrote a letter to the society, saying he wanted no further association with the organization.

1989 Letter to BOE

i am looking for a copy of the 1989 letter to all bodies of elders in canada wherein it discussed the handling of legal matters including a paragraph on handling allegations of child abuse.. i have checked at randy's and kent's sites but could not find the canadian version.

since this is going to be used in a court setting a scanned copy would be best, but we could make due with just the text version.. also rather than re-doing the work someone already may have done, i am looking for a copy of all society articles written on the subject of child abuse.

this interested party has also requested a copy of the pay attention book especially the chapters on forming and handling a judicial committee.. if you have already printed this out or have an extra copy of the 'pay attention' book please let me know at [email protected] and i will provide an address for you to send them.
