Breakdancing is from the Devil
by Huxley insome youngsters (i always hated that word...) in our congregation went to a rock concert.
two out of ten of these kids decided to join in the "mosh pit", and try their hand at "crowd surfing", just like on mtv.
well the other eight kids decided to rat them out to the elders for behaving in a worldly manner.. the local needs talk the following week discussed the danger of music in the life of a young christian.

Teenyuck,
All of that twisting around evidently twisted something, down south, to the point that only surgery could gets things back to normal. During the break dancing craze this was common. Sorry I can't give you more info, but that has been a while. However, if you really wish to know, one of his relatives is still a friend of mine and I'll ask. Bug

Hello Nina,
The man apparently called you a liar. If you had the time and money, and inclination, that would sure be an interesting court case. Might be fun to get the fellows address from lisavegas and send him a letter to that effect, or better yet, ask your attorney to do so. Guess I'm a little too wound up over this and am taking it personally, as I know you and know you to be an honest person.

Flame Retardent Breasts
by Satanus ina recent study of the breasts of women in san fransisco:.
bay area women have three to 10 times greater amounts of a chemical flame retardant in their breasts than either european or japanese women, says a study by california scientists published tuesday.
pbdes, or polybrominated diphenyl ethers, are persistent organic pollutants that have been increasing worldwide in humans and wildlife over the last 10 years.. .

There is a subject that has not been addressed here, could these substances be causing other, perhaps long term problems??
Well I guess this makes my deep seeded fear of falling into a lit birthday cake and setting my breasts on fire seem irrational and moot
Joanna, this study was done in San Francisco, I doubt if the stuff has reached you yet, so suggest you be careful around fired up birthday cakes. Bug.

I think your Dad is in a turmoil right now. He said it was all lies, but deep down inside he knows better. Sometimes the truth hurts and this is a classic case of a man not wanting to face that truth. Did you do wrong ? I don't think so. You have made him think about his own actions and the wrecking of his family as a direct result. He isn't going to accept you in any event, unless he can see thru the Watchtower lies.

Conflicts in the mind
by JH in.
do you have an inner voice inside of you that opposes what you think about the jehovah witnesses?.
in other words, is there a part of you that will always be a jehovah witness, and a part of you that will always hate them?

I think hate is too strong. My mother, before she died, was a witness, as is my brother, one nephew and one niece. In addition, there are people I've known since childhood who are also witnesses. Sadly, they are as brain dead as I was, but that is not a good reason to hate. Bug

Do You Still Feel Obliged To Answer To The Elders?
by minimus in.
for some, there is real fear that they must speak to the elders if they decide to stop by your house .some don't know what they will do if the elders begin questioning them.
what will you do if they want to talk to you?
-

I don't feel an obligation to talk with the elders, but will happily do so as long as I control the agenda. If they can't live with that, they can leave, hopefully the easy way. Bug

Have You Ever Written A Letter To the Society?
by minimus inwhen i was a kid, i remember my family regularly visiting other friends, including a brother that was the bible study servant.
every week, he would send a different letter to the society on a variety of subjects.
when our families would meet, he would ask us the question and we would do research or give our opinion on what we thought the society's answer was going to be.

always receive a cold form letter in return -- one of them was a short paragraph asking that my HUSBAND write to them about the matter.
Nina,
Apparently they are telling you that you have no brain, you cannot think for yourself without the aid of your husband. Those of us who have met you, visited with you know very well how intelligent you are. I suspect the commune people in NY also know. Funny, they wouldn't appreciate Big Tex's thoughts either.
About the time I think I've heard everything, something like this crops up. Bug

Proof that JW teachings are fading from my youngest son
by LyinEyes ini just thought this might be of interest to some of the parents here on the board who have left the borg, when their children also were raised in it......my youngest son, is the spiritual one of my 3 kids, i mean he wants to know what jesus was like as a boy, if he was a boy in heaven, why did god put satan down here with us, etc.
etc.. as many of you know, our whole family left the borg, a little over a year ago.
my oldest son was glad and still deals with his own spirituality, he is your typical teen, interesting in other things not spiritual.

This young man seems to be sensitive, intelligent, artistic, and, no doubt, has qualities I've missed. Keep encouraging him to explore things which interest him and you can probably expect great things from him in the future. Bug
