This forum has become sort of a second home for me and one of the best research sights for JW's anywhere. This, in my opinion, makes us family even though we don't always agree. That is not a problem as my wife and I have been married for 38 years in spite of the fact we don't always see eye to eye. She is always wrong of course.

Could you do without a computer at home?
by JH in.
10 years ago, just about no one had a computer at home, but today just about everyone has.
how would it affect you, if your computer broke down, or didn't have any?

Bleeding heart tree hugging war protesting liberals
by LuckyLucy inyesterday bush passed the bill that prohibits partial birth abortions.
it amazes me that these bleeding heart tree hugging war protesting liberals find nothing wrong with murdering a baby that is almost at full term.they proclaim to care about the children in the middle east ,yet here in their own country they see nothing wrong with murdering a baby.
makes me sick !

Joanna,
In a previous post you described a rather intense discussion with your parents, and as far as I could tell, you did quite well, except for getting a bit too emotional. May I respectfully suggest you use the same arguments with the new fellow ? Doubt if he will do any better than your parents. Just one more piece of advice, try to control the agenda as much as possible. Talk about UN membership, false propheys (sp?) 1975 etc. Bug

Elder came...grasped at straws...and left. UPDATE!
by searchfothetruth inwell i had a very interesting conversation on friday night.
sorry to be so long letting you know what happened.. only one elder turned up and i was wrong in my original thought that my mum had given him my report, it seems he was coming to ask me to study, therefore he was totally unprepared for what was about to happen to him.
but, i have to say, that he was the most honest elder i have spoke to and i'm sure you will be surprised by some of the things he said.. he started off wanting to know what made me stop going to the meetings and i related to him my experiences of a certain body of elders that had, to say the least, made me realise that they thought that they were a law unto themselves (including stealing, lying and generally being un-christian).

He said that Jehovah was behind the false prophecy to bring about a sifting work.
This is the same BS I heard after the 1975 fiasco, except we were told by some elders, including one partaker at the memorial, that "Jehovah is testing us." These guys are obviously programing themselves !!! Those kind of mental gyrations are more than this poor country boy can handle.

I did it finally.....
Sheila, when the above popped up, I had all sorts of visions as to what you had done, most of them involving elders, telling them where to get off, etc. Now that I know the truth, glad you did it as it seems to make you happy. Used to work with a fellow who had a piercing, we called him ringworm. Bug

The life they stole from me
by sipho ini have just come across this website and was amazed to read to many similar experiences to what i went through with the 'loving' congregations of jehovah's witnesses.
i have now been gone 4 years but after reading some experiences i realise that the pain they caused still remains.
i am now quite angry at the way they control your life and brainwash you - i am so glad i finally saw what was happening and got out.

You think you know BETTER than Jehovah!
I'm wondering if she really meant "you think you know better than the WTS ?? Sometimes Dubs seem to get the two a bit mixed up. Bug

So many lonely people
by JH inwith 6 quatrillion people on this planet why are there so many lonely people desperately searching for someone to love?
with cities crowded with people, why is it that finding someone to love would be so hard?
there are more and more single people as time passes.

My wife just came thru a medical problem that could have been life threatening, and that scared the daylights out of me. In the first place we've been married almost 38 years and we already have the warts identified. The thought of finding and living with anyone else is a frightening prospect, don't know as if I would know how to approach the problem. Bug

A WHO'S WHO list of Atheists
by JT inhttp://www.celebatheists.com/
it has often been noted that many who leave wt often move from believers in a god to agnostic or atheist.. while the reasons often vary, they do share a common path- after leaving wt they kept on asking more questions - smile.
now i see why my grandma used to say: "baby, don't question the "lard"

"Baby, don't question the "LARD"
JT, I agree with the nice lady. However, the WTBTS is not the Lord. They have just set themselves up in their place. Thanks for the post. Bug
Edited, because I wrote down TJ instead of JT. Probably made both of you mad. Please don't beat me. Bug

Which is worse?
by TemeculaMole inif you were to ask a loyal jw :.
which is worse to be disfellowshipped for repeated fornication (and no remorse) or to be disfellowshipped for having an opposing view from the gb such as not beleiving in the blood issue?.
this is pure speculation but i would think that the jw would say the later because your basically an apostate for not beleiving all that the borg says.

The Fundamental Doctrine of Jehovah's Witnesses
Between them, AlanF and Big Tex may have put their fingers on the main control method of the WTBTS, total control over your thoughts and ideas. This doctrine is subject to change and the witnesses are expected to abide by these changes, rather they agree with them or not. To disagree, as Big Tex pointed out is unforgivable. Despot dictators use the same method, total control. Bug
