http://www.canada.com/saskatoon/starphoenix/story.asp?id=c320cdf6-f1b3-4bf7-aa3c-7feaaf57e9d8 peoples has two reasons to believe he can resume being one of the league's premier pass rushers: he's healthy, having recovered from troublesome knee surgery and numerous hamstring pulls, plus he has reconciled an inner conflict that began with his religious conversion to jehovah's witness..
peoples now calls himself an "inactive'' jehovah's witness, although he continues carrying a card that forbids him to accept blood transfusions in accordance with his faith.
"i believe everything the jehovah's witnesses teach, and i respect them,'' peoples said.
Emotional and physical problems, plus the fact he is 30 years old, make his playing rather iffy. Hope he fools me, and, apparently, every other team in Canada and becomes a big star, but I must admit I'm skeptical. Bug
saw it happen in slo-motion.
fumble - no recovery by the home team.. .
**i just had to take the picture of it in case my boss didn't believe me** kinda like saying my dog ate my paperwork...
Several years ago when I had my first 35 mm camera I was setting up on a fishing dock of a small lake to photograph some Canada Geese out on the lake. I had the camera up on a tripod and turned around to get something out of my camera bag. When I turned back around all I could see were the three legs of the tripod sticking up out of the water. I immediately opened the camera, took out the film and removed the batteries. Thinking this was a lost cause I told my wife the camera was ruined and bought a new (and better) one. Guess what, I stuck some batteries in the thing some 6 or 8 months later and it worked fine !!!!!! bug
things have calmed down again with my mother to the point where i found myself once again in her kitchen last night.
drinking too many cups of coffee as i always do at her house, i imagine if i were a smoker i'd have been lighting one cigarette after another instead.
it had been a pleasant enough evening, i sat there with my crocheting in my lap, something i always take with me to my mother's house so that if i get nervous or stressed out, my hands, and my mind, have something to do and somewhere to go.
Those of us who have had first hand knowledge of family members or friends committing suicide are painfully aware of what you are feeling right now. It is the most helpless feeling anyone is compelled to endure. I'm hopeful you can work your way thru this pain, but at the same time knowing it will not be easy. If I can help in any way please feel free to PM me. Bug
my mother attended the funeral of an elderly jw recently.
the person that passed away was in her 90's had been a jw since the 1930's and her late husband was one of the "annointed" although she didn't claim that for herself.
every few months i hear of old jws passing away.
Does it ever dawn on them that they were caught up in one big hoax and wasted their entire life on a lie
On some of them, no. If it does dawn on some of the older ones they will be left without hope. We recently moved back to the town that is the nearest thing to a "home town" I have. We have had four "sisters" visit us and two have called, all but one of them over 60 and she is in her middle fifties. Thankfully they kept the conversation away from religion or I would have been put in the uncomfortable position of pointing out certain things about their faith. Funny thing, we faded over twenty years ago, you would think they would be shunning us.
However, if some of the elderly do realize they are caught up in a big hoax, I see it as our responsibility to help them in any way possible, but I don't see helping them see the error of their ways. Bug

seen this on richmond va paper....i thought tied in with stinkypants post..but didn't wanna distract from it....opinions on the story?.
Funny thing, you may have hit the nail on the head. During the Civil War the Confederate army was, for the most part, made up with people of Scotch/Irish descent. Get these guys convinced the cause they were fighting for was worth dying for and you can't find better soldiers, anywhere. I'll give you two examples, Sgt. Alvin York in WWl and Audie Murphey in WWll.
ok, so here's the idea, for anyone who doesn't know... .
the first person makes a (supposedly) undeniable statement.
the next poster has to somehow prove him wrong, and make a statement of their own.. .
George W. Bush is the SMARTEST man alive. (too easy, but I hope to get a good laugh out of this one
George Bush has made a living out of folks underestimating him. He has two degrees from Ivy League Universitys, was part owner of the Texas Rangers, Govenor of Texas, and now President. What have you accomplished Reborn??
Ok, Texas is the greatest state in the union.
back in 1991, a young brother maybe 18 years old living next to my place committed suicide.
his father expected him to be very zealous just like he was, but the son never wanted to be like that.
he was always controlled by his father.
A middle school teacher advised a father his son needed mental help, which was frowned upon in those days. The boy never got the help for something that might have been a simple chemical imbalance in the brain.. At the age of 29 he commited suicide by cutting his wrists and bleeding to death.
The suicide was my nephew, the father, my brother, and this is something I think about almost every day.
my wife and i just left the wts after some 6 years of involvement (5 1/2 as baptized jws).
it has been a painful experience, i must tell you, but also one that has been filled with great joy and relief, too.
the agony and the ecstasy, you could say.
Your leaving, no doubt, is really scary to them because you probably know every kink and cranny in the operation of the WTS. Knowledge, except the knowledge they wish for you to have, is a dangerous thing to the WTS and obviously they know it !!
A very good post, give us more. Bug
