Yeah it really hurt my business for awhile. I was trying to run it with the witness mindset. I have since been able to fire people. That was SO hard to learn.

To Dissassociate or just Fade into Inactivity ? Your Choice ? Reasons ?
by flipper inthis has been asked before, however i thought it may be good for newer members of the board to read some of our reasons on how we decided to exit the jw cult and why we decided to do it the way we did.. first off - i have been faded for almost 8 years.
essentially i decided to fade into inactivity and not da because i have elderly jw parents who would shun me if i did get dfed or daed myself.
also- i like keeping open the possibilities that some of my many jw relatives may in time start doubting and have questions and reach out to me in my inactive state.

I am still in fade mode. Living in Mexico I had to leave certain things to a brother in Georgia that I still want. Until I can leave this hell hole I will continue to lie and say I go.

Are they really that weak willed?
by jean-luc picard inmr falcons thread on jw partys made me think about my new family's get togethers.. once or twice a year, we have a get together/picnic ( around 40 or 50 mostly family ).. we drink quite a bit of wine/ pernod ( our wives or 'sometimes husbands) drive home ).
i have never heard crude talk.
people sware a bit, but in an amusing kind of way.

I knew a sister from Atlanta who went on a witness cruise. She danced the grind with two ministerial servants. She loved it. One of her Elders said something was inappropiate with the dancing. So then she changed her tune and said the 2 brothers were molesting her on stage. Since they were from a different congregation in another state she tried the rest of the trip to find out their names and to turn them in and get them in trouble. The next year she was DFed....
What hypocrisy!

by OUTLAW inaccording to the wbt$... the outside world is supposed to be a horrible place... .
the outside world hasn't caused me nearly as much grief,as watchtower world... outside world (5% grief).....watchtower world..(95% grief)... .

Let me see....Let us see how it comes to love...
Had cancer in 97. Two witnesses and only two took me out to dinner. I even attended meetings while getting chemo. Worldly people did more. More phone calls etc.
The issue of money...Worldly people stole...my wallet $8.00 once. Drug dealer stole $40 once. Broke my window in my car. $100. Stole my television in Mexico $300.
Witnesses stole $35,000....Sister is STILL in good standing and Elders are not doing anything about it.
I would say I prefer the worldly life. Less stolen and more love.

Review and Comments on the New Elders Book
by MrDarkKnight ini recently completed an exhaustive review of an unofficial copy of the new elders manual.
my father, who is currently serving as an elder told me a friend of his in the service department told him it was on the internet so i eagerly looked for it and found it.
yes, i know it was a violation of copyright, but while at bethel i made copies of many technical manuals which is also a copy of copyright so the wts hypocrisy does not concern me.. i was appointed as an elder the year the pay attention book (manual replaced by this one) was released so i have very good working knowledge of the old book and could compare the two books.

Feeling a bit alienated
by factfinder ini notice mostly everyone at jwn was a "born-in".
i actually chose to become a witness.
i was born and raised jewish but by the time i was 15 i had lost interest in judaism and stopped practicing it.

I had it all and chose not to listen. Dad found the truth in 81 or so...Baptized in 83. I didn´t want to be one. I was around 11 or so. I would be in bed awake on a sunday trying not to make any noise that would wake Dad so we would have to go. It wasn´t until years later that I accepted a bible study. When I was 20. Loved what I was learning. An apostate saw me reading a live forever book and brought over a box of apostate stuff. It made me doubt a little. Even a great video which I have recently discovered on YT. Even all of that and I still got baptized etc. Lord have mercy. That was in 94. Lost my fiance. Great woman. I am married to a great woman now but sometimes I think what would have been...I have since apologized to her. Was in the cult 16 years. Even didn´t allow a blood transfustion for dying Dad. I am SO frickin mad at them today. A year later they changed their stance on blood. My father could have possibly survived.
He was a famous architect.

The Real Issues Facing former Jehovah's Witnesses
by AllTimeJeff inon internet forums such as these, it is to be expected that there will be people who want to save jw's.
esp from (thinking for) themselves.. however, the real dillema's facing an ex jw who leaves, whether on their own terms or being disfellowshipped are real and haven't changed.. .
lonliness, how to make friends, is a big issue.. fear, esp fear based on superstition, a fear of god and of the future that is not in any way based in proveable fact.. education, how to think and reason critically to avoid being taken advantage of is a big challenge.. love, sex, and how to navigate your way around all of that hot mess.. geez, yeah, forgot.

Are you kidding? Thanks so all of you I learned a HELL of a lot! Tearing down lies but especially using humor makes it all the best! Thanks so Minimus, Moshe, Outlaw even...
Where are you IssacAustin? You helped me mucho by sending the Crisis book to my email!
Love to all the people here.
Very soon I will reveal my real name and try to find out if there are any ex brothers that I knew from Atlanta. I am just not at that stage yet.

My encounter today.....
by Free!! inlet me start with: i havent been to a meeting in almost 2 years, i am "inactive" and the only contact i have w the jw is the an open minded jw friend who i talk to....since i left, i have done what i want, travel, get my nose pierced again (had it pierced before i baptized but they gave me hell for it, even thought the bible doesnt say anything bad about nose piercings) and hang out w "wordly" friends who smoke, drink and swear.... i don't smoke but lately i have been giving this friend a ride and he is a-pack a day type of guy... he left his pack in my car yesterday..... so, i am working evenings this week on a special project, and this morning i decided to run some errands.
i was hungry so i stopped at macdonalds to grab some coffee... i placed my order thru the drive thru and pull over to the pay window, as i look for the money the drive-thru attendant says "wow, hello free!
", i look up and omfg one of the brothers from my congo... i acted like normal (sorry but i dont get nervous of agitated when i see a jw, i just dont give a dang) and smiled and made short conversation, while he is tellng me how much he misses seeing me at the hall, i see his eyes going between my piercing, my jet black goth hair and the pack of cigarettes on my passenger seat.... .

I tell my elders that I am going to the spanish hall. Then of course they ask me about the cards....I tell them I am not sure I want to commit but am thinking about it. That usually leaves me alone.

I worked out like a demon when I was younger. Wanted to be a wrestler. I still do it occasionally. If you are serious I would suggest watching the movie Pumping Iron at least 5 times and reading Arnold´s Book the Encyclopedia of bodybuilding. Invaluable information.
