I have a problem with my serotonin levels. I took Paxil for about a year several years ago, but the side effects were too much. I'd rather deal with anxiety and depression. I did notice that I felt better after eating legumes, particularly split peas. I just couldn't really get the tryptophan I needed by food alone. I started taking 5-HTP after doing some research on the net. WOW! This stuff really works, for me at least. I was wondering if anyone else had experience with taking 5-HTP?

Homeopathy popular in Jehovah's Witnesses ?
by Tigerman inis homeopathy ( the treatment of a disease using, in small doses, drugs that produce symtoms like those of the disease so that one's natural immune system can fight off the disease ) popular among active jw's ?
my son who was raised as a jw has a large ( adult male palm size ) fatty growth on his back.
his jw mother is treating him with homeopathy, as is a so called doctor.

Facebook makes people you don't see very often more real
by sabastious insocial networks have their pros and cons, but overall i really enjoy them.
it lets you peer into the window of the lives of people you care about that live too far away to have a regular relationship with.
you still feel connected.. -sab.

On Facebook I'm friends with my brother and his wife, and I'm friends with their son. But they're not friends with each other because he's disfellowshipped because he got a divorce. Strange stuff.

How many times have you studied a paraphrased version of Adam and Eve?
by sabastious init seems like at least once a month the watchtower is explaining original sin.. i believe that it is specifcially this story that is used to turn wt kids into eventual mindless drones.
they are constantly told that they are worth nothing because of eve's mistake.
i always felt so powerless because it happened so long ago and we are still feeling the effects.

Good stuff. I haven't been around them in over 30 years, but the effects of being raised around JW's still haunts me today.

Do You Believe Your Government or Political Party Affiliation Is Righteous?
by minimus ini know some that tout their government as being blameless, wonderful, and almost perfect.
whether you are considered a "liberal" or "conservative", it seems that some are "true believers" in their cause.. personally, i'm disillusioned with politics although i'm always interested and fascinated by ideology and personalities.. i think all governments are unrighteous.
i think some individuals mean well but the higher in government that you are, the more soiled you become..

While walking down the street one day a Corrupt Senator was tragically hit by a car and died.
His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.
"Welcome to heaven," says St. Peter. "Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we're not sure what to do with you."
"No problem, just let me in," says the Senator..
"Well, I'd like to, but I have orders from the higher ups. What we'll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity."
"Really?, I've made up my mind. I want to be in heaven," says the Senator.
"I'm sorry, but we have our rules."
And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell.
The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him.
Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people. They played a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and the finest champagne.
Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly guy who is having a good time dancing and telling jokes.
They are all having such a good time that before the Senator realizes it, it is time to go.
Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises...
The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens in heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him, "Now it's time to visit heaven.."
So, 24 hours passed with the Senator joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns.
"Well, then, you've spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity."
The Senator reflects for a minute, then he answers: "Well, I would never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hell."
So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell..
Now the doors of the elevator open and he's in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage. He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls from above.
The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulders.
"I don't understand," stammers the Senator. "Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there's just a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened?"The devil smiles at him and says, "Yesterday we were campaigning. Today, you voted.." -

Has anyone noticed that they are really pushing that Satan is after us and how much the world hates us.
by life is to short init seems like the january 15th wt and the march 15 wt are about satan attacking us.
maybe it is because i am seeing things more clearly or maybe they are truly using it more.
they are really getting into the fact that the world hates us a quote from the jan 15th wt on page 30 says "the world is basically hostile toward us.

I don't know anyone who hates JW's just for being JW's. I've met quite a few people who hated Christians in general. Most people don't know anything about JW's.

What is it with JW's and the Cross?
by FloridaPerry inhistory shows people were hung on stakes and crosses, why do the jw's make a big deal about the cross?
isn't jesus dying for the sins of man the issue?
the cross was a part of the jw's early on.

"the city of pompei was destroyed in 79 a.d. by a volcano only 46 years after the death of christ. The city was buried in ash for 1900 years, when they dug it out in the last 100 years every thing was preserved perfectly one of the things they found was a cross on a wall with the name of jesus . "
Watching "The Secrets of Christianity" on the History Channel this morning talking about this. Interestingly, some Christian converts in Pompeii took down or covered over phallic symbols and used crosses. 40 years after the death of Jesus. Dead on proof the JW's are wrong about this.

drunkeness and jw's
by man in black inthis afternoon i was just trolling the internet, and i went onto the official jw website just to look around.. well, some of the pictures / articles were quite amazing in their sheer ignorance of facts.. one of the most amazing ones for me, (it actually made me laugh out loud while shaking my head in disbelief) is titled: .
have you ever wondered .
.how should a christian view drunkenness?.
-

If they didn't allow heavy drinking, people's heads would probably explode. When I was a teenager, JW parties where most there got drunk were the norm.

Auburn will wind up forfeiting the game even if they do beat Oregon.
