  i am just curious, there are tonnes of information about the wt and the stories of its hypocrisies in the internet.

  are they aware of all these?

  or they just obediently go to the www.watchtower.org only, and never feel curious enough to click on other link that mentions about jw, wt etc.....

  Yeah, so true darth frosty. I would be gripped with fear to click on anything with Jehovah's Witness in the title.

  It took my family leaving to make me say, "what the hell?" and go ahead and look. I had to know what they knew and happily, well...the rest is history.

  I think without a doubt, the mandatory "finger probe" prostate exam done to all "new boys" during their physicals.

  I think it was a sick twist to gain psychological control. I've had physicals my whole life for work, school, hospital stays and that was the only place that required it.

  How many 19 yr olds are in danger of enlarged prostates?

  @ CLARITY- that part at the end of your post about the gold and jewelry rang a loud bell in my head. I can verify, because my neighbor is one of the guys who liquidates estates for the Society and I've seen the stuff they send him, it's ridiculous. The last time I was there for a visit, we were looking at boxes of coins, gold, silver dollars, etc. that a childless older couple who had died about two years ago, I think her then he finally, had left ALL to the Society along with their entire property in a rather rich area near me. Amazing, then I got to thinking about the Rutherford days and the "counsel" or direction to leave the child raising until the "new system of things." Since then, you've got frugal, older couples who never had children for the sake of the kingdom and now who is going to receive all of the worldly goods? Bethel! to try and ensure their place in the paradise. Wow.

  Haha, that is so funny. My wife just finished reading The Greatest Show on Earth, it's actually on our kitchen table right now. I was amazed by chapter one where the author differentiates the two definitions of a theory. During all those book studies we were taught that evolution was just a theory- yeah, by definition number one, though books like the Creation book wrote under the assumption of number two.

  They loved to quote that "Yes, it is agreed that evolution is a theory." from some source, but leave out the fact that it is an established theory among scientists.

  1. theory- a theorem, really, an established body of principles to explain something in our universe. i.e. the heliocentric theory- that the sun is the center of our solar system.

  2. theory- a hypothesis, something still proposed.

  The society quote-mines all of the time from scientists which makes it sound like they are saying things like that the fossil record is inconclusive, etc. What scientists like Dawkins are saying is that the fossil record is nice, but it is not necessary to prove evolution: each living thing bears the stamp of its kinship to everything else in its DNA.

  remember how they pretended to be from far away;but really weren't to curry favour with josh and the boys?

  And another thing, that story used to piss me off so much because everyone else who was guilty of a little untruth or stealing a frickin' gold bar got pelted with rocks, but all of a sudden here is a story out of nowhere that we're all supposed to nod and hmmm....scratch our chins thoughtfully, yes isn't Jehovah a loving god....uhhh. NO! inside I really am thinking what a freaking arbitrary, unpredictable god.

  Oh yeah.. they take any account from the bible to make a connection no matter how irrelevant to show the dependency of the great crowd on the coattails of the anointed.

  They were starting it back in the early 1900's by saying the great crowd were 'lesser faithful' ones destined to live on earth, or something like that, right?
