If you'd asked my Dad back in the day, he'd have said that in God's Kingdom, everyone would act righteously... or else (paraphrasing, obviously, but that's the gist).

What is the benefit of God's Kingdom?
by Half banana inwhat is the benefit of god's kingdom?.
the watchtower said when it started out in 1879 that god's kingdom had already arrived in heaven in 1874 and that its work would be complete by 1914. .
with heroic slogans of "destroying the kings of the earth" and "all enemies of christ the king" etc by 1914, "god fearing" humankind was to have been restored to prelapsarian innocence and the earth to a global edenic paradise.

Do you think any of the GB have different beliefs?
by neat blue dog indo you think any higher ups know that much of the doctrine they teach is bunk?
thinking back to the time of raymond franz, how he pointed out specifically numerous teachings that the churches really did have right all along, and really any of the hidden mic apostacy trials you listen to on youtube, you see that even when inconvenient bible teachings are proven, the elders just try to sweep it under the rug and move on.
i think i remember franz saying how one of the gb approached him somewhat sympathetically, but there was nothing he could do.. whether you believe in the bible or not, there are some basic beliefs common among most denominations because they're just so plainly stated, such things as heavenly life for all christians, no central authority structure, minimal use of god's name, etc.

If they do, I would imagine they keep it to themselves.
Although we have read a few stories here about the shouting matches overheard behind the closed doors of GB staff meetings.
So maybe not.

Circuit Overseer to Answer My Questions + Concerns...or Not
by Research inhello all, i'm 'researching', a jw who is in the first steps of taking a look at their beliefs.. i've semi-recently (about a couple weeks ago) heard about the sexual abuse cases (pennsylvania attorney general’s investigation request) and then the arc in 2015. this lead to a deep investigation, which lead to many questions arising.
a jw friend of mine suggested i be careful (due to apostates) and ask the brothers.
so i typed up my questions + concerns and emailed an elder my mother has known for a long time.

truth_b_known - "ARC is 'apostate'? It can't be apostate if the ARC were never Witnesses."
Honestly, the way things are going...
...I think we're building up to a time where damn near everything outside the WT bubble is arbitrarily labeled as "apostate"...
...regardless of its origins.
Hell, we'd probably be there already if proselytizing wasn't such an integral component of the religion.

Expect 90% of pimi's to go down with the ship here's why
by nowwhat? ini have been feeding my very pimi brother tidbits and clippings of all the csa issues coming to light the last five years and all the org's business dealings of hundreds of closed halls congs dissolving etc.
and reminding him of all the failed prophecies etc etc.
although he would listen and acknowledge.

In addition, I think this reasoning is a big part of why they've stepped up their game in terms of recent countersuits and DCMA takedowns.
By now, the Org leadership fully buys into their own rhetoric and propaganda (whilst simultaneously knowing it's wrong, but that's another subject), and therefore can't believe they'll lose, partly because of the Org's historical successes in the courts... conveniently forgetting, of course, that said successes were made by canny, shrewd men who only picked the fights they knew they'd win.
I also suspect that due to the emerging woke-slash-hashtag-metoo environment,at least some of them are privately (and anxiously) just hoping to luck out...
...and if they don't...
...would rather the Org crash-and-burn rather than capitulate anyway, like virtually every other authoritarian regime in history.

slimboyfat - "...If on the other hand the Org was to collapse entirely, and suffer complete defeat, then people would walk away for the whole belief system entirely..."
Agreed, in no small part because an utter-collapse-slash-complete-defeat would - arguably - be the most elegant proof that the WTS isn't "God's Exclusive Earthly Organization"...
...because if it really were, said utter-collapse-slash-complete-defeat shouldn't have been possible.

Confidentiality by the WBTS
by ZindagiNaMilegiDobaara inhow the wbts has definitely broken confidentiality in their own words!!!.
proverbs 25:9 "do not reveal what you were told confidentially".
a body of odours letter refers to this verse and instructs them when handling congregational matters involving legal issues.if an elder were to breach this (minister-communicant privilege prevents any body of odour from revealing things said in private to him by a member), then he automatically waivers the minister-client privilege.

News Reports are "Apostate Lies"
by truth_b_known inwith the most recent investigative news report show entitled "the witnesses" i noticed a number of posters whose family members are pimi refer to such shows as "apostate lies.
" even the governing body (possibly loesch) made such a statement (possibly on jw broadcasting).
i was thinking of how to reply to such a statement.. first, ask "who is the apostate?

"We endeavor to report it to the police..."
...By making an anonymous tip...
...from a pay phone...
...in a neighboring town...
...completely aware that the authorities hardly ever investigate such tips because a) they're sadly lacking in needed information, and b) quite often turn out to be steaming horseshit.
And the clueless rank-and-file loyalists are none the wiser, believing the Org's actions on the matter are totally on the up-and-up.

JWD a Dysfunctional Place?
by Victor_E inwith the recent blood baths we have seen in this forum it got me wondering of how you can objectively understand it and more importantly not let it affect you if you so choose.
what i write is not meant to be taken as gospel truth since there is no gospel truth nor is it my intention to get on my soap box since i left it when i walked out of the kingdom hall.
most of what i have to say is subjective based on personal experience and i feel no need or desire to debate anyone about anything i write.
