  now today this is of course a non-issue.

  the wt has embraced the big bang/old earth etc just not evolution.

  in fact the creator book has some decent info.. however i have a good copy of the 1958 paradise book.

  The Org can never budge on evolution, no matter what.

  Despite what they may say, it’s not about evidence, or its (supposedly) inherently atheistic nature, or even basic scientific plausibility...

  ...it’s because the underlying foundation that WT cosmology is built on has effectively become completely dependent on the Genesis creation narrative being literal history.

  If evolution is true, then Adam and Eve in Eden didn’t actually happen...

  ...and virtually all the theological assumptions anchored on the premise that it did effectively go out the window.

  IMO, one could make a pretty strong argument that without WT-style creationism, there’d be no JW religion.

  she was telling me her husband had to go to a room with porn in it and masturbate into a cup to get tested.

  i never thought of this before but but how would a jw handle this.

  ...someone here recently theorized that the real reason the Org so stringently requires records of the members’ preaching activity is because, since they don’t do soup kitchens, food drives, etc., they need to provide other documented evidence of “charitable” acts to federal revenue agencies to keep their tax-exemption...

  ...which, once again, begs the question: just how financially dependent on said tax-exemption is the WTS?

  Historically, most solely reactive regimes eventually collapse under the weight of all the increasing pressures that theyre forced to, well, react to.

  If they’d been proactive, they’d have been more readily able to handle said pressures, and thusly survive.

  i dont hold any doctorate degree in human psychology but if you look at the jws from a layman's perspective of whats going on inside the head of your typical jws it isn't that are hard to understand.

  if you haven't noticed the jws have the propensity to reiterate word for word what the wts teaches and fills the heads of people who are strongly attached to the jws religion.. in short the wts tells people what to think and what to say about various topics, theology based or otherwise.

  how that comes about is the wholehearted acceptance that what comes to the readers off the pages of the wts's literature, has come from god's chosen earthly mediators the gb men.

  been reading here for a few years.. 4th gen jw, born and raised, served for a few years which was the catalyst for me.

  the politics, backstabbing, slandering and coercive tactics in particular caused a constant internal struggle.

  i started researching and focused only on the stories of ex-elders/servants to see if i was the only one - i wasn't.. the rest is history..

  I've lost count of how many former Witnesses have come here, not because they were angry or confused, but simply because they were looking for confirmation.

  Reading XJW material on the net doesn’t turn you into an “apostate”... it just helps you realize you already are one.

  it is a challenge next sunday for them .

  due to starting the convention programme the wt study will be a 30 minute run through ,and deals with this prophecy ... i doubt the younger ones are familiar with it at all bur oldies could debate it at length .we on the look out for the king of the north to enter "the land of decoration" (more to follow,maybe next week).

  this article makes a grand claim in par 2.
