Things JWs Say That Don't Mean What They Think It Means
by NotFormer insometimes things don't come across the way the speaker intended.. years ago there was an ad by the whitegoods company fisher and paykel.
they showed them going to great lengths to get customer feedback on what was important to them.
one customer said that she wanted it to be easy to get her appliances serviced when they broke down.

This answers the question if the organization was going to go more Hardline or mainstream.
by nowwhat? inlooks like we can expect a kinder, gentler jehovah and jesus during the great tribulation.
the door will not be closed to all non jws at the start of the tribulation.
but will have time to repent after false religion is destroyed.

Not a chance.
To go authentically mainstream would be to give up the claim that they have God’s exclusive favor.
But without that, there’s virtually no incentive to even be a Jehovah’s Witness.

You know what this reminds me of? When they bumped the bookstudy.
That was unprecedented at the time, but eventually we found out it was because too many cases of child abuse had been happening in and around bookstudy environments…
…and that the Org’s charity status was under review because of it…
…i.e. their tax-exemption was at risk.
To avoid that without having to change their policies or have the real reasons publicized, they simply eliminated the environment.
Now… like the bookstudy, The D2D work has been - for intents and purposes - mandated…
…but recent intel has indicated that the number of kids who’ve been abused whilst being out in the D2D work has become uncomfortably high.
They need to keep witnessing records as a paper trail to maintain “charity” status…
…but…
…now they have to make it more authentically voluntary in an attempt to keep responsibility at arm’s length…
…or their tax-exemption may be even more at risk.

Real reasons behind this change?
by Gorb injust a good conversation at home about the hour report change.. we think the change was not impmemented because the gb are such a lovely bunch of old grandpa's having the best in mind for us individuals.. there will be only, and we say only, an organizational reason for it.
a legal reason, to protect jw.org and it's officials and wealth.. next step?
maybe selling more kh and when jw hollywood studio's in rampoo are ready a change to tv subscription.. what do you think?

High levels of door-to-door activity were always equated with having The Truth…
…but Covid gave the rank-and-file a wonderful, sweet, and prolonged taste of Saturday morning freedom, and I’ll bet the projections got the leadership scared.
If growth is plateauing, court cases are being lost, and actual witnessing is now in decline…
…what’s that say about “Gods Exclusive Earthly Organization”?

No more REPORTING field service!!!!!!!!!
by BoogerMan inthis is going to break the hearts of a lot of uber-jw's!
reddit has now removed the video link of samuel herd telling jw's they will no longer have to report time or placements - just tick a box which says "active.".

It’s happened right smack in the middle of their CAA legal troubles…
…and I’m not a big believer in coincidence.
Maybe the rules for qualifying for charity status are changing, and recording the numbers are no longer worth the effort.

Cult or High Control Group?
by MillennialDawn ini see this phrase a lot: "the indication of a cult is what happens when you leave.
" i'm not sure where that originated, but it is a faulty categorization.
"cult" is almost always used in a derogatory way.

Agreed.
I’ve posted my thoughts on this as well, before.

Hailstones?
by NotFormer inwhen i was interested in things jw two decades or so ago, i never came across these mentions of hailstones.
it crops up so often now that it's almost a meme!
when did it become a thing in jw speak, and what does it refer to?.

Actually, I think they’re greatest nightmare would be losing their tax-exemption in the US.
All indications strongly suggest that the Org’s business model has become dependent on it. Lose it, and the WTS goes broke trying to stay in the black.
If it goes broke, it can’t function. If it can’t function, it can’t survive.
And if it can’t survive, it can’t really be “God’s Exclusive Earthly Organization”, can it?
And that prospect is unthinkable.
By that chain of logic, loss of the WTS’s tax-exemption threatens the very existence and legitimacy of everything they live for.

Ten bucks says that if/when they ever lose their tax-exempt status, they’ll find some New Light or other as a pretext to not bother anymore…
… because I’ve long suspected that the “life-saving” door-to-door work (and more importantly, the record-keeping aspect of it) was really just to create an Autobahn-sized paper trail of “charitable activity” to qualify for tax-exemption, and if that no longer cuts the mustard, then there’s no point continuing it.
Why do I think that?
Because of how readily they were - for all intents and purposes - willing to pull the preaching work to a screeching halt during Covid…
…their tax-exemption may have been at risk if they hadn’t complied with secular authorities’ directives to instruct their people to stay home.
Not to mention how willing they were to show their throat “Satan’s world” and sign up for the CSA redress scheme in Australia when their charity status there was approaching the chopping block a few years back.

Beth Sarim - “It just baffles me how the vast rank and file JWs cant realize all of this.”
The Org has evolved to specifically seek out and/or keep rank-and-filers who are not emotionally resilient enough to realize it.
Most of us are here because unexpected circumstances essentially forced that realization onto us…
…and it was either accept it and adapt or have a nervous fucking breakdown.
