Huh.
I thought early humans hunted them to extinction.
Or was that another species?
i can remember the original turquoise coloured evolution book produced by the organisation and the numerous public talks around it.
mind-blowing to a gullible youngster growing up in a jw family.. the flood of noah's day when thousands of tons of suspended water fell from the atmosphere and on hitting the cold poles instantly plunged the woolly mammoths into a deep freeze, to the extent that the last mouthful of grass was still there in the mouth in mid-chomp.
you can quickly see why a kid with a fertile imagination was transfixed by those apparently up-to-date scientific discoveries as presented by the wt org!.
Huh.
I thought early humans hunted them to extinction.
Or was that another species?
wow.
while not a pew survey, i found these to be surprising results.
" a recent yougov poll explores americans' attitudes toward 35 religious groups, organizations, and belief systems.
Oh, yeah.
Hearing assembly drama dialogue using current WT vernacular for the first time was surreal.
And then the WT magazine featured an illustration of two First-Century Christians going door-to-door with bags of scrolls.
🤯
i recently viewed the debutante event of my greatniece.. a beautiful ceremony, of course she was not a jw.. my grand daughters (jws), i think about what would.
be wrong if they participated in such a event.
introduction to society.. .
Huh.
It’s funny, I’d always thought a “debutante” was a “ditzy rich socialite”.
😄
Maybe I had it confused with “celebutante”.

Let’s be honest, folks. The Org wouldn’t want and budding young rank-and-filers attending anything “worldly”…
…but it’s really about socially isolating members from non-members.
when a non witness sexually abuse the child of a jehovah’s witness, who will the parents call or the elders call in this situation?
.
Beth - “…Protecting the Organizations image is what's the most important…”
No quite.
At this point, I doubt they give a rat’s ass about their “public image”…
…it’s all about shoring up the Org’s legitimacy and authority in the eyes of the membership.
Lose that, and they lose everything.
wow.

Balaamsass2 - “….I would never have expected a grassroots growth of dogmatic, religious gun-toting fundamentalism.”
Did you forget who some of the earliest American settlers were?
Some might be tempted to suggest it’s practically baked into the country’s DNA.
wow.

Balaamsass2 - “…You would think a carload of child molesters were roaming the streets…”
…he said, without a trace of irony. 😜

They’ll call the elders, for sure…
…and the Org’ll wanna play it up for all its worth.
one thing i notice from sitting through a number of broadcasts is just how much these guys love their titles.
it's always brother such-and-such, member of the gb, helper to the teaching committee, etc.
it's never simply brother such-and-such, a local elder with such-and-such congregation.. it seems to me the witnesses are pretty quick to pick up on catholics who call their priests father, which at the end of the day is in much the same vein simply a title.. i suspect these titles point to a huge amount of narcissism of the part of those who revel in such titles, certainly it doesn't seem to fall in line with christ's advocation that the greatest amongst you should be be the least.
JWTV has done everyone an enormous favor, IMO. 😏

Remember the good old days when most of the GB actually kept a semi-low profile?
