  Unbelieveable. ***My disclaimer...I'm not a JW, never been one*** but I just don't get it. Why do JW's think that leaving the org equates "leaving Jehovah"? What mental gymnastics do they have to do in order to come up with that conclusion?

  I'm an only child, so maybe my opinion isn't worth much with these sibling issues...but I think I'd take your wife's advise and skip the whole ordeal. Why play the WT game? Some people (family included) are simply toxic...and I don't care what religion they practice...of course, some "religions" are just more TOXIC than others. If you do not agree with this second class treatment, don't subject yourself to it. Just my .02 cents.

  Occult pictures in JW books?

  my 19 year old son show me a site on internet where they show a lot of pictures from our books, and if you look very carfully you can see ddifrent ocult signs, or perhaps guess it is something like this, someone here who have knowlege of this things here, it was new for me, and very confusing, perhaps i give you the link later.

  Thanks for the link. Hadn't seen that one! Reading how some people grew up in the organization and how their childhood experiences were rooted in fear...no wonder, some of those images are downright creepy.

  I've seen several different sites regarding WT "artwork" and it's subliminal effects. However, long before I had heard of, or seen any of these sites...I'd always see this garbage over at my mom's house and you know what? From an outsiders point of view...I thought it was some of the most disturbing stuff I'd ever seen. I'm not sure what "it" is but somemething about it isn't right.

  Would you let your kids bf/gf sleep-over?

  at what age would you be happy with your kid's boyfriend and girlfriend 'sleeping over'?.

  would the rules be different for boys vs. girls?.

  personally, i think given a choice between 'it' happening anyway god-knows-where and giving a suitably mature kid some privacy, i go for the privacy option.. what do you think?

  Yeah, I never understood the rationale, "Well, if they are going to do _______(fill in the blank) they might as well do it at home, where it's safe." If parents want to beieve that, it's their business BUT I don't get it. Unless parents want to "supervise" what's going on in the bedroom...how exactly is it safe? I'm certain a fair number of STD's and pregnancies occur in the safety of home.

  Agreed...I think one of the dangers in dating too young, is the risk of being faced with very adult situations and consequences. We want our kids to "just say no" but many parents have a problem with "just saying no" to their kids.

  Thanks LB,

  My opinion has a lot to do with my dad (he's been gone now 8 years, I miss him soooo much) I wouldn't say I "feared" him, rather, I had "healthy respect" for him. I didn't always like what he said...good grief, I remember him saying things like, "If you want to play grab @ss, do it somewhere else" Such sophistication!

  As I got older, I truely appreciated his special kind of "wisdom" though. I saw our neighbors allow their 17 year old, to have his girlfriends sleep over. Get this...he didn't move out till he was almost 32 years old! He's not much younger than I am! Yet, he never even went to college, heck he hardly ever worked...but he sure did "entertain" and why not? What a deal!

  I think when a "child" is old enough to have sex...it is a STRONG indicator it's time to move out. Really. If they're not "ready" to play house on their own dime...they probably shouldn't at mommy and daddy's. I think this is natures way of letting kids AND parents know when it's time for the kids to leave the nest, so to speak.

  A friend's dad used to work at Vacaville State Prison...for the criminally insane. He used to tell us stories about "Charlie" all the time. From my understanding they rotate the guards around the little nut-bar a lot. I don't know if this is true, but one time they were remodeling and there was a crew of floor/tile installers working in close proximity to Charlie...well I guess he was staring and creeping out several of the construction workers who left and refused to go back until they put him where he couldn't stare at them!
